A Difficult Inland Links Not For The Fainthearted.

Like the other reviews state... you need to bring your A game to the Faldo Platz. It is a serious course, well designed inland links style, and you need to be accurate in order to stay out of the bunkers and enjoy the day.

The Palmer course is parkland and a lot easier on your body & soul. A pleasant parkland design where you can shape your ball around the lush trees. A must visit course even if it's just for the reference point of how tough a serious golf course can be.

Stan Eby

We booked the Stan Eby on March 31,2025, and are looking forward to traveling to Bad Saarow on May 18,2025. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid the full green fee.

Range and then off you go with the cart... if you don't know your way around, it can be difficult to find the spot.

Then at tee 1 the disappointment:

But the fairways were so burnt and dry, it was unacceptable. All the fairways were like that, burnt and rock-hard.

We raised the situation with the secretary, but there was no further result.

The highlight, however, is the club's note in the booking form (literal quote): "On the Stan Eby course, the fairways should be avoided due to persistent dry conditions."

Maybe I don't understand the game... should I play 18 holes over bunkers and rough?

Lots of light, but also shadows

We played the three courses over three days and stayed in an apartment at the resort. We had a variety of experiences.
Day 1 > Nick Faldo Layout - Typical links course, no woods or bushes. Therefore, it can get very hot in midsummer and be quite difficult to play on windy days. Away from the fairways, there's almost always calf-high grass, but this makes it quite easy to find and play balls. Truly beautiful links courses, almost always peppered with bunkers in the target area. The greens are also often surrounded by various bunkers. When playing the driver, you have to hit your target. If you just lay up or land in the bunker, then par is impossible to achieve.
Condition. > Tee boxes are large and well-maintained. Bunkers are well-maintained and filled with powdery sand. Often pot bunkers. Greens are barely undulating. Easy to play at medium speed.
Other > Signage is very sparse, but still adequate if you pay attention. Restrooms and shelters are scarce, and they're also showing their age.

Day 2 > Arnold Palmer Layout - a completely different design. All holes run through the woods. Nevertheless, all holes are sufficiently wide. The trees along the perimeter are mostly out of play, with the exception of the 18th. Only here do the woods and bunkers significantly restrict the drive. This means there is shade in midsummer, and even on windy days, the balls aren't blown around as much. Balls do get lost off the fairways, though. Overall, a rather boring design, as the bunkers rarely interfere with play and the greens are rarely well defended. Still, par isn't easy to come by.
Condition. > Tee boxes are large, but not always well-maintained. Bunkers are well-maintained and filled with powdery sand. Pot bunkers are occasionally found here as well. Greens are barely undulating. Easy to play, with medium speed.
Other > Signage is also very spartan, but still adequate if you pay attention. Restrooms and shelters are scarce, and they're also showing their age.

Day 3: Stan Eby Layout – yet another one. In our opinion, the most interesting of the three courses. Sometimes in the woods, sometimes just bushes and tall grass along the fairway. Therefore, the most varied of all the courses. Plays just as long. Bunkers like those at Nick Faldo. Exactly where they need to be for a competitive player. From a visual, sporting, and architectural perspective, a truly fantastic course.
Condition. > Tee boxes are large and well-maintained. Bunkers are well-maintained and filled with what appears to be powdery sand. However, it rained heavily overnight, and the greenkeepers must have had Sunday off. There are also pot bunkers here. These greens are undulating, however. Therefore, not always easy to play, even with moderate speed.
Other > Signage is also very spartan, but still adequate if you pay attention. Restrooms and shelters are scarce, and they're also showing their age.

Ranges at the clubhouse > 200 m are possible. Played on two sides. Chipping green is sufficiently large. Putting green is very large.
Ranges of more than 200 m are possible at Eby. Played on one side. The chipping and putting greens are rather small, but adequate.
Clubhouse > Sun terrace, yes, but there's no cake on the menu. We were speechless. Service, well, okay.
Secretariat > super friendly and polite. Top-notch beach + jetty > unworthy of a 4-star resort.
Apartment > We were lucky. The accommodation was great. The price and performance were completely OK.

Overall conclusion:
We'd love to come back. We'll play Eby and Faldo then. Overall, though, the years have taken their toll on the course. There's a lot of work to be done. However, all the courses were in good or very good condition. Since we reserved tee times online, the €85 green fee was quite acceptable. Unfortunately, these days you have to pay much more for much less elsewhere.
Since the resort seems overpriced to us, we will try to stay in the surrounding area again.
