Adventure golf beyond the border
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 15, 2022
Played on 8/14/2022. The 9 (PAR 35) or 11-hole course is practically right behind the border when you come from Frankfurt/Oder, or the Autobahn 12 from Berlin, first exit after the border. Past a typical Polish bazaar, the facility is located within a sports complex. The clubhouse is rather nondescript. The secretariat is in an office behind the building where the bar is. You can also buy drinks and ice cream there. There is also a toilet there. I didn't see a restaurant. There is a driving range for which you have to buy tokens. You can also pay in euros at a conversion rate of 4:1. On a Sunday afternoon I paid a green fee of €25 for the 9-hole round. The place is an adventure! A course map is printed on the score card for rough orientation, otherwise you can orientate yourself by the small boards on the tees with the numbers 1 to 18. The rest is intuition. Length information only available on the score card. You have to see where to go next. You can actually only see the tees and the greens. The rest of my game was either dried brown grass or bare ground. Irrigation only takes place on the greens, which also had some brown spots, but were otherwise playable. The way from lane 3 to 4 is a bit difficult to find, but it is signposted. You also have to walk back a little to tee 5. There are also extra tees for the second 9 with the corresponding numbers 10 to 18. This opens up new perspectives for the second round. Lanes 10 and 11 (both PAR 3) are specially designed so that the course has a total of 11 holes. Thus, lane 1, then also 12, etc. There are always water hazards, especially on lanes 4 to 7, which are mainly present as a stream. Instead of water, however, there is dense bushes in there. Unfortunately, there are also a pair of overhead power lines on the course, which can easily be hit by the shots. If the condition were better, you could actually play golf to some extent here. In the current state, an extra journey is unfortunately not worthwhile. The young man in the secretariat was friendly but seemed extremely bored as I was the only golfer on the course. I had sent an e-mail in advance (Polish address, not the e-mail address of the club on the Oder) and asked if I could play on the same day. The positive answer came very quickly and in German. On site, however, there was a problem with the knowledge of German, but then it worked with English. The homepage of the German Club on the Oder has probably not been updated for at least a year. There is still reference to outdated corona rules and a tournament in May 2021. I didn't find a Polish homepage, but at least the e-mail address. So if you love adventure golf, you will get your money's worth here.
