Located in East Lothian's Golf country and a 30 minute drive from Edinburgh, The Bonnie Badger in the heart of Gullane has proudly opened its doors revealing a charming country hotel, lovingly re-stored.

Michelin star chef Tom Kitchin and Michaela, the husband and wife team behind the popular restaurants in Edinburgh took over the village hotel and spent months renovation and restoring the building to showcase many of its original features which had been hidden for years.

The village hotel, established in 1836 has always played an important part of the Gullane community. Surrounded by 22 golf courses including the famous Muirfield Golf course, the host of many open Championships and the renowned Archerfield on the doorstep, the charming village of Gullane has always attracted visitors from far and afield.

The kitchen of The Bonnie Badger, overseen by Chef Tom Kitchin and his team, including award-winning chef Dominic Jack, is headed up by Head Chef Matthew Budge who is local to the area from the neighbouring village of Tranent.

The interior décor has taken inspiration from Scotland's rich tapestry of natural resources in a blend of Scottish and Scandinavian design which have become synonymous with The Kitchin Group. The décor of The Bonnie Badger very much reflects the colours and vibe of East Lothian's stunning countryside and coastline. Using fabrics and textiles from the Scottish islands along with work of local artisan craftsmen and women, the hotel, bedrooms and public areas showcase an eclectic mix of traditional and modern design throughout. A home away from home feeling with roaring fireplaces, snug areas and beautifully restored original features, the hotel displays something for everyone to enjoy a savour.

The impressive Dining room, located in the old horse stables to the right of the main building, has been unveiled thanks to the discovery of the original wooden beam structures of the roof. These are now a striking ceiling feature on display for diners to enjoy the height of the space and the beautiful structure of the original stable building.

A grand fireplace towers over the dining room as an impressive centre piece and the original sand stone walls have been brought back to life and been carefully restored giving the room a great character. A blend of rustic stone, classic wall panelling, wooden floors and stunning designer lighting showcase some beautiful design elements which instantly capture its audience.
