Characteristics

Established in 1898, Københavns Golf Klub holds the title of Scandinavia's oldest golf club. Located within the scenic Dyrehaven, a historic royal hunting ground north of Copenhagen, the course offers a truly distinct atmosphere. The current 18-hole layout, dating back to 1928 and updated by architect Tom Mackenzie, traverses the open Hermitage Plain. Golfers face challenges from the wind and rough, often sharing the fairways with grazing herds of red and fallow deer. With views of the Hermitage Castle and lined by ancient oaks, this open parkland course combines sporting tradition with exceptional natural beauty.

Since 1898 - Oldest Golf Club in Scandinavia

Royal Copenhagen Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Scandinavia and the 18-hole course is located in an EU habitat with more than 2.200 deer, along a forest and yet close to Copenhagen center.
The existing course was build in 1928 of an unknown British Golf Course Architect and was refurbished in 2007-2009 by Scottish Golf Course Architetcts MacKenzie & Eberl with speciality in making the test and look more up to date without spoiling the historic feel.
Royal Copenhagen Golf Course is an open inland links were you have to consider the wind. Don't go to Copenhagen without testing your skills here.

Recommend everyone to come at least an hour in advance

You feel a little like you're in a film. I was there early enough to enjoy the park a little. There are deer and roe deer everywhere, no, not three or four, hundreds. And they're not shy at all. The whole thing is in a park that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ancient trees, powerful nature. Go an hour early so you don't start the round completely distracted. The course is challenging but not too hard. On some holes, however, the bunkers defend the green with great force. The green itself is very fast and, like the course, in perfect condition. I'd be happy to go again.

Madness

Have played this course today.
The approach is funny: park and then it feels like 2 par 5 lanes on foot to the clubhouse. Here we were received super, super friendly and instructed. Hardly on the square, very well maintained, but not so sensational, we couldn't stop taking pictures. Roe deer, stags, red deer and more. The colleagues don't stop at the greens either. Which were otherwise great.
A sensational day of golf for us. We can only recommend.
