Square redesigned - not for the better

Recently visited the facility again after almost 2 years.
The green fee prices have now reached a respectable level for what is on offer (61 euros on the weekend), but what is really noticeable is that a significant number of bunkers have simply been dismantled and partially replaced by grass bunkers.
And that takes away a lot of the course's charm. It was never a challenge to hit the ball far (apart from the 200m par 3 and 400m par 4), but the task was to aim well and avoid the obstacles in order to keep the score together. That always challenged me to a certain extent, but now - at least in terms of the bunkers - it's rather boring. At least the water hazards were left as they were and are often in play.
One thing to say about the bunkers is that if you're going to reduce the number, you should at least look after the remaining ones properly. I'm sure I won't be playing there any time soon to meet my handicap, as with the huge amount of stones in the sand you have to be careful not to damage your clubs.
One thing has improved for the better, however, and that is the food. Two years ago it was below average at best (Mexican frozen food), but this time the food was really good and all four of us enjoyed it. It's still the same owner and he has apparently improved certain things in his business, which is a good thing.
And there is a new mascot, a small black cat named Tano. A sweet, trusting guy.
But overall, I can't rate it as anything more than good. 3 stars, average.

Good design for a city golf course

The south course is optically beautiful and wavy, partly with water, greens often raised or wavy so actually kept exciting. Right next to the motorway and approaching Oberpfaffenhofen. A real city square.
The maintenance by the operator was very good. However, the players devastated the tees and the good greens are covered with pitch marks. Now I understand why similar 9 hole courses have tee mats. The dogleg, bunker, etc. distance display for teeing off on the board is missing. At first I thought it was very suitable for "long hitters". I didn't lose a ball. However, it is sometimes on the edge of the neighboring fairway. Because of the narrowness, there is little space between the actually sufficiently wide lanes. Even with short strokes, the pre- or post-flight often stands in the direction of the shot. A plateau green just hit, the ball hip over it and almost hit the man who was standing on the next lane. Sometimes it has nets. Incidentally, with 1h 17 min for 27 € it is over too quickly for 9 holes. It went quickly but played extra carefully.

I am still on the course a lot, only recently at a perfectly organized tournament with over 100 participants, everything worked out fine. Playing time just under 4 hours over 18 holes in one of the rear flights.
There are 2 female and 4 male marshals there, and they are all extremely friendly, they can be determined for certain things, but that is ultimately their job. And I've never seen a barracks tone, something must have gone wrong.
As far as the pace of play is concerned, the maximum is 2:15 hours for 9 holes, but that is beyond reality with this short course. If the fairways are free in front of you, times of 1:30, a maximum of 1:40 in a four-way flight are absolutely normal. Condition, of course - everyone in the flight has learned and understood what one has to contribute to a fast game.
As far as the booking system is concerned, each player reserves his or her personal start time online and can also book other players by name. And if only 2 or 3 players are registered in a flight, it is completely normal that additional players can also be added at short notice until the limit of 4 players is reached. It is therefore only logical that such a constellation can arise that a four-man flight is followed by a three-man flight and a two-man flight. If the worst comes to the worst, there is always the option of playing through. And whether the exact name fits now, as long as a name is not booked multiple times or is completely missing, is irrelevant for the whole thing. There are no half players or something.
This club actively wins a lot of new members every year, to an extent that sometimes it is already too crowded for me.
I therefore type in the last two reviews from 08/15. and 20.08., which obviously aim at the same issue, tremendously on the well-known forest formula paired with an extraordinary need to let off steam, especially since it is the very first rating by both users.
Even 2 years after my last rating, I still rate the course positively, the really big challenges are missing, but it definitely requires a straight long and a precise short game, you should also be able to deal with bunkers and inclines.
This facility is still not and never will be perfect, but it is good. 4 stars.
