18 holes for a par 72 (36+36) on a naturally hilly course of 5777 meters (6318 yards), the golf of La Sorelle was conceived in the spirit of the Scottish golfs courses by leaving a wide part with the natural obstacles: long breakthroughs in the middle of trees, jumps of brooks, multiple and varied topographic depressions, heightened departures, fairways sometimes wide, sometimes cramped, flat or accusing important slopes... We played this course at the end of September, but cannot recommend it in its current condition. The drought and heat that plagued the region have left unmistakable marks on almost all the fairways. However, the tees and greens were in surprisingly good condition, which is worth highlighting under these circumstances. We are convinced that, under good conditions, the hilly course, while not exactly easy to play, could be enjoyable for any golfer.
We often couldn't find even well-struck balls, as they disappeared uncontrollably in all directions on the extremely hard fairways. Furthermore, some holes have to be played blindfolded, and the markers were of little help. After several rounds, we were able to place the balls reasonably well. We would have loved to play this course, beautifully nestled in the rolling landscape, under better conditions.
The hotel, a former country estate, left nothing to be desired. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and the restaurant comes highly recommended. We imagine this place could be a real treat after sufficient rainfall. Information about this on the website would be appreciated. The pitch itself, in its current state, deserves a maximum of 3 stars, but the overall experience is well worth 4.
