Characteristics
The course is situated near the Haarstrang. The undulating terrain was skilfully integrated into the course. Broad fairways and varied greens demand different strategies for playing. In addition to that, seven pools and 60 bunkers make the course more difficult. The 9-hole course is rather tricky for beginners and everyone who wants to train playing short games.

We played the course on our last Sauerland short break on July 24th, 2024, more or less by chance. However, we found a real gem. Tee times are now being allocated and that's a good thing. The course itself is not too difficult but in top condition. It is incredibly beautiful and varied. A pond is not just a pond, but a small, playful lake that is worth looking back at from the green. There are not only wide, narrow and straight fairways, but each dogleg also has its own specific characteristics. Time flew by and when we were finished, we were even a little sad. The office was friendly. The course was good for beginners too. It was in good condition. We were able to play through in peace. No one in front of us, no one behind us. So it was very relaxed. On Mondays, like almost everywhere else, there were greenkeepers on the move. That's just how it is and necessary. We ate and drank well in the clubhouse. Only small campers were allowed to stay overnight, as the parking lot was manageable. We were still satisfied.

After years, I wanted to play the GCUF again.
Since this club gives no start times, which is completely incomprehensible to me, I have previously called in the Secretariat to ask when I could play. I was told that I could try it in the late afternoon, because members are playing before and I should get on the first set-off.
I thought that it would not be so crowded and I drove to the GCUF. Arrived I went to the first tee to see how much is going on. I was astonished to find that about 30 players were at the tee and waited to start.
Since I did not want to be part of this CHAOS, I decided to drive to the neighboring club Gut Neuenhof and played there. There are start times.
To the GCUF: Introduce start times so that guests and members can plan better. Or would the GCUF chaos on the court and no paying guests?
