Characteristics
The club was founded in 1931 and achieved prominence in a very short time, technically if is a very difficult course with many natural hazards, among them three crossing creeks. The nearby mountain range protects the golfers from the the cold north wind, while the breeze from the sea is peasantly refreshing. The course demands precision and puts the skills of every players to the test. It is also very well-tended during the winter.

First of all the published rates are incorrect. The 45 Euro weekday rate does not start until 3PM, so fork out 60 Euros. When you book the tee time they don't tell you that the course becomes a par 67 during the week, with two temporary par 3's. You start on hole #2 and end on hole #1. The tee box for hole #2 is in the line of fire from the driving range. Then there is hole #18. You have to hit over the driving range, and unless your drive carries 275, your ball is in the driving range. There is a button that you push, which sounds an alarm on the range for the them to stop, while you proceed out on to the driving range to find and then hit your second shot. Needless to say we didn't play that hole. When I asked for a reduced fee at the end, they said no, but did offer a free cart for the next round. THERE WAS NO NEXT ROUND. The staff is friendly and the course is literally, right in town. The clubhouse is nice and the members were also friendly. If you want an adventure, It's great. If you want to play golf, go somewhere else.

Extraordinarily special, in a green oasis

The course layout is extremely cleverly integrated into undulating and hilly terrain. Entertaining and exciting from 1 to 18. And then there's the fact that this 100-year-old course also boasts these gigantic trees, some over 100 years old. The vegetation is magnificent and simply breathtaking – you'd be hard-pressed to find another place like it.
The pitch was in perfect condition from start to finish; the only downside was that the sand in the well-placed bunkers was a bit too thin. Below a depth of 2 cm, it was concrete. But that's the only criticism.
For €70 (weekdays) you get a lot of quality here – both for sports and for the soul.
The situation with the second and 18th lanes and the driving range (already described by other reviewers) is so unique that one should be somewhat lenient about it. After all, what would the alternative be? So, I'm not giving it a *minus*.
The 19th hole is classic English old style with quite good food.
Conclusion: a real gem that will definitely be remembered as something unique… normally a high 4* rating, but for this landscape with its wow effect I had to give 5*.

The course has its pros and cons. It's generally a beautiful parkland course in good condition with several interesting holes. On a number of holes, you play over a large riverbed. Holes 2 and 18 are a curiosity, but not exactly a positive one. The driving range is quite disruptive there, especially since the players practicing don't seem to want to wait until you're out of harm's way. Hole 2 is somewhat manageable, as a long drive will get you out of harm's way almost immediately, but on hole 18 (par 3), you really have to hit the 180 meters directly onto the green, otherwise it's very difficult. The clubhouse is nice and the staff are friendly. The parking lot, despite being right in the city center, seems secure. The price was also reasonable for us in the off-season. As a 16-hole course, it would have gotten 4 stars from me, but for the full 18 holes, it only gets 3.
