Characteristics
The course is arranged on an antique ground monument and fits exceptionally well into the nature of the left Lower Rhine. It is situated close to the 800-year-old manor Wildenrath that is surrounded by water trenches. Within the defiant walls of this manor there is a nice restaurant and an adventure farm. The expansion from 9 to 18 holes was finished in autumn of 2002.

The clubhouse and the entire location of the "Rittergut" is rustic and extremely inviting. The clubhouse terrace is also cozy and it doesn't bother that you don't have a view of the course. The reception is very friendly and uncomplicated.
The condition is certainly not "high-end". But ultimately perfectly adequate to allow real golfing as a natural course. The layout of the course is sometimes varied and sometimes not that easy to play. The drive landing zones are often narrow and the long par 3s in particular can pose a challenge. The arrangement of the 18 holes is a bit irritating - which also leads to some distances; but it is very well signposted.
Perhaps not a place for golfers who are only concerned with the sporting aspect. But a great place if you also enjoy nature and tranquility. 18 holes of golf that feel like a mini vacation.

Played on October 21,2020. The flat 18-hole course is located in peace and nature south of Mönchengladbach near the A61 / A46 and can therefore be reached quickly. The tracks are designed to be quite varied. There are many water hazards that keep coming into play and often require strategic play. The highlights are the two PAR 3 (9 + 12) with island green. Otherwise you should be careful that you land on the mostly wide fairways despite relatively little rough, as otherwise the ball tends to land in the bushes or out of bounds. There are simple but visual notice boards. However, there are only yellow and red tees, but higher HC should also be fine here. The major shortcoming of the system is and has remained the marginal maintenance condition for years. It is a little better than it was a while ago, but the fairways are still too often uncut and especially with a lot of foreign growth such as dandelions, daisies, clover, etc. During my game, the course was also very muddy due to the wetness so that the clay literally stuck under the shoes and on the trolley wheels an inch thick. Apart from the fact that the tees can often only be recognized by the fact that the tee markings are there, the tees 14 and 15 in particular were not mowed and so muddy and therefore almost unplayable. The greens were basically okay after an obvious aeration, but they also had foreign growth here and there and fungus damage here and there. In addition, there were an extremely large number of pitch marks and tree drops, so that you had to prepare and clear your puttline first. From the 9th green to the 10th tee, the way is a little longer because you basically have to go around the driving range, which is a little further away from the clubhouse. This apparently leads to the fact that some members like to switch directly to 11 after the 8, so that you suddenly have flights that you have already overtaken again in front of you. Otherwise, the game was on a sunny Wednesday afternoon in October, but rather relaxed, as was the entire atmosphere on the course. Most of the members gave a friendly greeting. There are no start times, you just come and line up. There is information about the system on two different websites, one from the operator, the other from the club. The comparably very cheap green fee of € 40 on weekdays (the condition of the space does not allow more), you pay with the friendly staff at the reception / restaurant at the "clubhouse". By the way, nobody asked me for a DGV ID card, and certainly nothing is known here of a surcharge for golfers without a hologram in a thankful way that promotes golf. The "clubhouse" probably consists of a former courtyard with a restaurant (not tested). I haven't seen a pro shop or changing rooms and unfortunately there is no other way to clean your golf equipment after the round, apart from a pool with water. But there is a small zoo enclosure behind the carport for the carts, including a few ostriches. Unfortunately, there is a rather uneasy feeling due to various warning signs about thieves in the parking lot and also on the square. Apparently there have been unpleasant incidents! The system has overall potential for more in terms of the space layout, but does not use this intentionally or unintentionally due to the below-average space maintenance. Therefore, I can only recommend a round if you don't expect a noble meadow and you want to play a rather relaxed round, but with a strategic challenge, for a manageable green fee.
