Characteristics
Each hole has a special design and a particular name that already hints at what to expect. For instance, there is hole 5, "Tidal Pool", where you will find either water - or not. Number 7, "Mangrove", suggest that you will hardly find a lost ball in the mangrove jungle. "Cat and Mouse" indicates the volcano that dominates the island and is the background for the 12 hole, a 418 m long par 4.
With such a golf course, presenting itself under these tropical conditions from the start in the best of lights, it is not surprising that it does not lack, either, in other facilities belonging to a golf course. Only one word can describe the club house at the northern end of the course,which includes a lounge, restaurant and lockers: fantastic. The training facilities - driving range, pitching and putting area, target greens - are also first-class.

Even the arrival via the jetty is unique. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. In July, you didn't need a buggy. The course is easy to navigate with a trolley because it's fairly flat. Unfortunately, trolleys and range balls are very expensive. The driving range is rather narrow and takes some getting used to.
The course itself is absolutely wonderful. The condition and layout were very good. Many holes offer great views—either of the ocean or the surrounding mountains. In many places, the holes are right next to the beach. There are some challenging holes, and for long hitters, there's a black tee in addition to the white tee. It's not uncommon to lose a ball, and some holes have larger water hazards (e.g., hole 9).
At the 18th hole, you can choose between two greens. The left green is relatively easy to play. If you choose the right green, you have to negotiate another "ravine," and the green itself has a significant incline toward the clubhouse (take more clubs :)!). Free refreshments (water, pastries, iced tea) were available at the "halfway kiosk."
Overall, a clear recommendation for this great Langer place.

There's something special about taking a boat to an island to play a round of golf...
The location and layout of this golf course are unique. Added to that is the excellent condition of the course, with top-notch greens. After the 9th green, you'll find a "halfway kiosk" where you can enjoy free drinks (iced tea and water) and snacks. After your round, a lovely terrace invites you to while away the time for the shuttle boat with a sizzling beer. In short: A fantastic place! A must-play when you're in Mauritius.
