Best Golf Course I have ever played

I booked myself a 18 holes round together with my two friends. We all had amazing time and the scenery is just breathtaking. I can say that this is the best golf course I have seen in a long while which I can definitely highly recommend to any golfer. Just make sure to bring plenty of sun block! during December it can be very hot and I got back to the hotel completely red :-) You can find a lot of valuable information on golf in Mauritius here: http://golf-in-mauritius. com... I hope this helps...

Extremely long and also wide

From the third last men's tee (yellow) still 6,086 m long, a lot of wind in the game, always felt a headwind, the course is extremely long. However, the good thing is that it is also extremely wide, so no loss of possession!
Top course maintenance, beautiful fairways, no wow effect, but very handsome. Huge bunker landscapes around the green, but the bunkers are great to play. Greens a little undulating, not too much, but okay, green speed not exaggerated.
Beautiful holes 4,6 and 14, with a stone wall in the middle of the fairway, which therefore divides the fairways. The final hole, a par 5 with 490 m, is also nice. I also found the small refreshment station after the nine with free drinks and cake very good.
The practice facilities are great too.

A place for long hitters

By far the longest course on the east coast of Mauritius. From black over 6,800 meters long, and even from yellow over 6,000 meters. Most fairways, however, are so wide that it is almost impossible to miss them. The condition and view are excellent, but there is a lack of real sporting challenges with the exception of the greens and the bunkers. The predominantly huge greens are all slightly undulating with the result that it is almost impossible to punch putts of more than one meter. Unfortunately, Ernie Els has a penchant for bunkers, especially deep pot bunkers that surround many greens. Even for single-digit handicappers, it is a real challenge to get the ball onto the green with one stroke. For the normal golfer it is just frustrating when the ball (often after several attempts) finally lands on the green and then disappears into the next pot bunker. The construction work on the back nine bothered us little. Overall, apart from the bunkers, an extremely forgiving place without any real challenges. In our opinion, the Belle Mare Links is much better. The fact that the green fee (around € 175) is significantly overpriced, as with all courses in Mauritius, should only be mentioned in passing. Conclusion: We expected something spectacular from Ernie Els.
