Characteristics
On January 16, 1906, the Hamburger Golf-Club was founded in Hamburg's "Patriotic Building". From 1928 to 1930, the world-famous golf-course architects Colt, Alison, and Morrison created a masterpiece of English golf architecture on the club's premises that still exists today.

Played June 12 2013 For:
• Heritage
• Helpful secretariat staff
• Birdie master ®course management guide
• Fabulous fairways & greens
• Intimidating bunkers; some deeper and larger that most residential swimming pools.
• Unforgiving roughs; I lost four balls! Not into the trees, just a few feet off the edge of the fairways. The ones I found didn't always come out to the fairway for one!!
Against:
• Archaic rental clubs
• Some not so friendly members
• No water Hazard, I like it when water's in play.
I will definitely recommend it.

In a very elegant setting golf here is civilized affair with distinct disclain for the ostentatius. Although there is a plesantly old-fashioned feel to the course, maintenance is definitely modern and probably the best in the region, I guess. This is my cup of tea where you have to bring all your shots and a few more.

One of the most elite golf clubs in Germany, yet you are treated extremely friendly and warmly both in the reception and in the restaurant.
The course is really difficult even without water hazards and offers plenty of challenges, including a lot of heathland and many elevation changes! Anyone without a good shot and a really good footing won't have much fun here.
The food is first-class, with prices to match, which brings me to the green fee: €140 is quite a price, so I rarely treat myself to this course. Compared to other top courses, it's too high, hence no 5th star.
If you're a member here, you don't have to talk about money; you have it. Anyone who wants to enjoy a truly special course, plays really good golf, and is fit can spend a wonderful day here in exceptionally hospitable surroundings, rounding it off with excellent cuisine.
However, if you just want to play a lot of beautiful, first-class courses on holiday and want to save some money, you are better off at Schloss Breitenberg, GC Walddörfer or GC an der Pinnau.
