Characteristics
The former knights' estate is considered one of Holstein's most scenic estates, providing an adequate home for the golf and country club in the old manor. Thanks to the population of old trees and the river Pinnau meandering though the course, the charm of the old terrain is quite impressive. The diverse layout of the teeing grounds and the differing yardage of the holes provide a challenge for golfers of all kinds.

Aside from its long-faded but impressive tournament history, the club's buildings and green fees are what impress today. The course was in excellent condition, and the greens were true, though not fast. Unfortunately, the holes and layout are irrelevant to me. It's predominantly a typical Schleswig-Holstein hedgerow landscape, which I find rather monotonous. I've played the course several times over the years, and only a few holes have stuck in my memory. The two bunkers I ended up in were annoying; one was practically devoid of sand, while the other was so sandy I practically drowned in it. For me, the club lives solely on its prestigious name.

Played on 20.07.26, A+B, Hcp 10.0, heavily overcast, occasional light rain, with Golfamore €60.
The welcome at the office was very friendly, instructions on how to use the facility were given without being asked, and free fruit was offered.
Practice facilities OK, range balls over pin.
Tees, fairways and greens in top condition. There were a lot of small stones in the bunkers.
Holes A and B from the yellow tees are par 73, with strategically placed bunkers and several water hazards that affect the game. Some holes are open and some are in the woods, so it's varied.
Shortest hole Par 3 at 121m from yellow, longest Par 5 at 476m.
Overall, the course is playable, but without Golfamore I still wouldn't play it with a green fee of €120.
Conclusion: I would gladly return with a discount and with seat C.

Three 9-hole courses (A, B, and C) offer new combinations every day. The course is well-maintained and quiet. A and B lead through parkland, while C is more open and windier. The highlight is the island green on hole 9 of the C course – a true signature hole. In case of rain, the game can be continued indoors thanks to the TrackMan simulator.
The complex and guesthouse are quiet and well-maintained. The cuisine at Gut Kaden is a MUST. The dishes are down-to-earth, fresh, and authentic. Especially recommended: meatballs with savoy cabbage, fried herring with fried potatoes, and the homemade cinnamon rolls. DELICIOUS!
