Super day, wonderful course

Played 18 holes at Heidelberg-Lobenfeld last week, visiting Heidelberg.
Wonderful course, very good condition, greens challenging, each hole offers something different but fit together as 18 holes perfectly.
The course is demanding but I liked it. Spectacular views from around the course. The rough had been cut but could be a bit heavy in summer.
First cut from fairway could also be a bit shorter - A 22 handicapper needs a bit of help sometimes!!
Overall - loved it! Friendly people, friendly staff and I didn't want to leave the terrace with the view across the course. As they say in German "herrlich"

The Heidelberg Lobenfeld Golf Club is also recommended here. That's why we planned a stay there in the fall and even changed our travel plans for it. We could have saved ourselves the trouble, no matter how much we might have wanted to. The driving range is very cramped, the grass tees in a deplorable state. The range balls are rock hard. Well, the hope of a good playing experience, at least on the course, consoled us. But here, too, we were disappointed. The starter (coffee cup in one hand, other hand on the steering wheel of his cart) made comments about our group that bordered on insults, remarks that he (and only he...) obviously found funny. On the course itself, there was a constant lack of etiquette, from young players loudly commenting on each other's shots while shouting, to a senior in a cart who brusquely demanded a lead shot. The crowning moment, however, was a female pro who, completely unfazed, occupied our lane with her youth group during the preliminary round and calmly played balls from various lies for a full 20 minutes while we waited, clearly visible, at the tee. The lane wasn't closed, nor was there a special youth tournament underway. It was actually quite fitting that the fairway was mowed far too high and the quality of the greens was, at best, average. Oh dear, I really can't recommend this place in good conscience.

The place deserves a solid five stars. We were in the area in early summer 2025 and were looking for the best value for money.
The first impression: a club, and here the club is committed to youth development. The week's tournaments are posted outside the entrance. The fairways, framed by forest in a valley that is admittedly designed for a sporty course, are up and down, but every fairway is a surprise.
I have rarely seen so many butterflies, insects, wildflowers and birds on a round of golf.
The staff in the clubhouse were pleasantly unfussy, and the Italian restaurant was delicious.
