Characteristics

This picture-postcard golf course was modelled into the gentle foothills of the Alps close to the lake of constance, designed by Robert Trent Jones sr. The 18 hole course is regarded as one of the most challenged in Europe and provides athletic golfers with just the right amount of pressure: long, narrow fairways, almost 100 bunkers, and numerous water hazards. All guests can enjoy the beautiful view of the Swiss Alps from the large sun terrace of the hotel and restaurant.

Excellent test of your game!

Golf course: Excellent design and in my view the most interesting golf course in the region. Challenging but fair — with all the facets of your game being tested.

It is important to select with some humility the color of the tees you will play. Playing yellow if you cannot drive 180 meters will make it very difficult to enjoy the design — there is no shame in playing from the blues. My recommendation to the club is not to list the colors of the tees by gender.

My read of most holes:
- hole 1 is a great starting hole giving you the chance to build your confidence.
- hole 3 a long dog-leg left par 4 that rewards a tee shot to the left of the fairway and a precise approach.
- holes 4,7, 9 are challenging and interesting par 5s. To get on the green in 3 requires three good shots and the greens are very well protected!
- holes 5 and 8 are downhill par 3s with water in play testing club your mid-iron club selection.
- hole 11 is a great par 3 calling very precise long iron play to a very narrow and well protected green.
- holes 10 and 12 require accurate blind tee shots and careful approach.
- hole 13 is a long par 3 (207 meters from yellow!) with the bunkers to the right of the green and more unusual behind the green!
- holes 14 and 16 are long and narrow but visually less interesting.
- holes 17 and 18 are great finishing holes. 17 is probably my favorite hole!

Overall a great golf course. Excellent maintenance and conditioning. Very friendly staff. Moderately hilly — a great walk and dog friendly.

Attractive and sophisticated beautiful

A leading course that plays as it is. Varied fairways, no hole is the same as the last. The course used to have to contend with rain and water on the fairways. But thanks to the new drainage, that's no longer the case. Some holes have also been redesigned and adapted. The greenkeepers are doing a great job. Everything is in top condition. In any case, there's no longer any water on the fairways after it has rained. We think the layout is absolutely sporty, and it's a lot of fun to play there. Everyone in the pro shop and the clubhouse is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is being renovated and has a new tenant. The restaurant now also serves delicious food with an Italian touch. Funnily enough, Weissensberg is a Swiss golf club on German soil. Lots of members, fewer green fee guests.

A varied course located in the mountains

Despite the rain of the past few weeks, the course is well maintained. Greens in excellent condition. Very friendly staff. Some parts are not easy to play. The access road leads across the course, which I think takes some getting used to. Still, 5 stars.
