Golf around the lake

Played on September 22nd, 2024. The flat 9-hole course is located directly on a small lake about 50km or an hour's drive north of Biarritz, close to the Atlantic Ocean, but you can't see it. Despite PAR36, the course is rather short at 2,423 meters from yellow. It starts with a PAR3 where you have to play over a corner of the lake. On hole 6 you also play over the lake again. After green 2 you turn into a forest area, and then from hole 6 you play along the lake again. There are holiday homes everywhere around holes 2 to 5, but they don't bother you. The holes don't have any special highlights, but they're not boring either. Some bunkers are well placed and there are one or two doglegs. The tee off from hole 9 is a bit elevated and you have another good view of the course here. The condition was just about OK. Unfortunately, many players don't put their divots back, which was extremely noticeable here. Play was relaxed on a Sunday afternoon after a rain shower in the morning. You can reserve tee times online, but we just drove there and were able to start playing straight away. The green fee for 9 holes is currently €45, which is actually too much for the short course. A manual trolley, which you have to get from a shed, costs €5. If you book a tee time using the state golf pass, you get a 10% discount, but you have to pay straight away. The lady in the office of the small, rudimentary clubhouse was friendly. There is a bar attached to the clubhouse. The double-deck driving range is located a few meters from the clubhouse next to the lake. You have to pay attention to the opening times here. A second 9-hole round doesn't really make sense due to the lack of alternative tee-off options. The course is more suitable for a quick round in between if you are nearby, but you shouldn't expect a fancy lawn.

We played the course at the end of 9/2018.
The condition of fairway and green was not to complain about. Everything is green and only a few bare spots. The Semiraff, however, rather reminiscent of cow meadow. The deductions could have been well-kept. Do not cover divots and remove pitch marks, and missing distance information is in line with the French holiday standard.
The 9 holes have been created around a large artificial lake, so that water came into play several times. The existing bunkers came into play only rarely, but had consistently too little and too coarse sand.
Overall, we found the place for a holiday region fairly priced at € 28.
