Characteristics

Swing between Collio vineyards

Castello di Spessa Golf Country Club is situated in the magnificent surroundings of the Spessa Castle secular park, an 18 hole golf course designed by the well-known architect Giacomo Cabrini. The course is immersed in the Collio hills of Gorizia and is characterised by various panoramas that differentiate the structure of the fairways and holes that are very different from each other. The bunker at the 5th hole is particularly difficult, a par 3 with a green protected by two water obstacles and a large bunker.

The Castello di Spessa Golf Country Club is dominated by a delightful Castle dating back to the XIII century and now offers 14 rooms and a suite furnished with antique furniture that overlooks the extended vineyards surrounding the trail.

The club house offers a vast car park and is located in a strategic position on the course with a panoramic terrace and a quiet relaxing lounge. An essential stop off for food lovers is the Tavernetta restaurant at the Castle that offers local cuisine, while La Boatina Guest Rooms offer not only 5 B&B rooms but also an original tasting room. Play golf in Friuli Venezia Giulia: unique emotions from mountains, to hills and sea.

Beautiful landscape

The course is built between vineyards and beautiful traditional houses. It is very well maintained, so it is difficult to lose a ball. The most beautiful holes are 5 and 8, because they are right in the vineyards. The only complaint is the reception, because they are not very good with foreign languages. It is a pity that the restaurant doesn't serves cooked food in the afternoon (unusual Italian opening hours for the kitchen), so you have to find another place to eat after golf round.

Pretty views, but that's it for a big cost

The views on the course are amazing, but from the clubhouse on we were not impressed. This course is too expensive for what's offered. First, we were told our groups would not have carts because they were out. Who runs out of carts? The pro shop lacked basic equipment, make sure you bring your own everything. On the course, the layout was confusing, and the holes were crammed in a very constructed space. It is beautiful, but even though this is very close to my home I will not play again because of the cost is not worth it. Nothing special on this small course.

Winter Golf

Our group of 3 people played the course on Monday, December 30th, 2024. I can overlook the frozen greens and bird droppings all over the course... But 68€ for an 18-hole round in winter is a disgrace in my opinion!! When you ask for a discount you only get a dirty look... The friendliness in the office leaves a lot to be desired... But you can do it with Austrians or Carinthians... I don't think a local would pay that price!! They certainly won't see me in "Die Spessa" again...
