Well Presented Inner City Course

Played 18 today. Very enjoyable. Course is very green and well presented for what it is - not top shelf tournament track - more like your typical village local course. Greens were running true and at an average speed - guess 10 on the meter. Staff all helpful and pleasant enough club house without being grand. Nice cool beer! If you are travelling and need a round- this is a good choice. I hired clubs - €30 which is enough for the quality of them and compared to other European courses- €80 for green fees is ‘fully ‘ priced. I enjoyed my round and was satisfied overall at the end of the day.

August 2026 - all golf courses are dried up? Really all of them?
No! Here on the banks of the Danube, within the city limits of Vienna, there is still enough water to keep the square green.
But that was it.
Golf doesn't actually play a major role here at Austria's oldest golf club. Membership here is for those seeking proximity to politics, business, and show business. It's a matter of personal preference.
On the walls are pictures from earlier (better?) times, when enough money could lure golf greats like Langer and Ballesteros to Vienna. Today, the pros would hardly want to play here.
The clubhouse is quite old and parking is only available a few hundred meters away. The reception was friendly and genuinely nice. The green fee is far too high for what you actually get. Half price would be just about reasonable for a round after work.
If you know the first three holes, you know the whole course. Flat as a pancake, boring, and without any memorable features.
My recommendation:
Only if there's absolutely no other way. It's better to drive 30-40 minutes – you'll find seats that are worth the price and get more out of it.
Sorry to GC Vienna. A cosmetic update is long overdue. Only its proximity to the city is a positive feature and prevents it from only getting a 2-star rating.

A sprawling golf course in the middle of the city – fantastic. I don't want to know what the land is worth on the market... After a long break, we played here again and were very satisfied: a particularly friendly reception, no fixed tee times, polite arrangements, and then we found a very pleasant course, well-maintained and with an attractive layout. The greens weren't great, but OK. The clubhouse and restaurant are very elegant, and the food is perfectly acceptable, albeit a little less than it was a few years ago. One criticism for which the golf course operator is not to blame, but rather the City of Vienna: The parking spaces in front of the course have been mercilessly and pointlessly converted into a short-term parking zone, forcing players to park their cars about 400 meters away in private parking.
