Well Presented Inner City Course

Played 18 today. Very enjoyable. Course is very green and well presented for what it is - not top shelf tournament track - more like your typical village local course. Greens were running true and at an average speed - guess 10 on the meter. Staff all helpful and pleasant enough club house without being grand. Nice cool beer! If you are travelling and need a round- this is a good choice. I hired clubs - €30 which is enough for the quality of them and compared to other European courses- €80 for green fees is ‘fully ‘ priced. I enjoyed my round and was satisfied overall at the end of the day.

Unfortunately a shadow of himself

What became of this beautiful place?
The greens partially burned out and damaged. That's to be expected on the fairways when the weather is dry, but in a club like this the greens should be immaculate!
The bunkers are a disgrace. Hard and soft spots alternate in the bunker. The bunker edges are heavily overgrown and more than "natural". That simply cannot be the case with a golf club like this. A confirmation that the course maintenance is not taken seriously here. In addition, there is no information about the flag positions. Neither the marshal nor the caddy master nor the secretariat could provide any information about the flag positions at a tournament. Really now???
All in all, it was - except for the fairways - less than a provincial course that justifies a green fee of 110 euros in any case.

Great Place

Played in strong winds, this old course, reminiscent of Scottish conditions, was a wonderful challenge. Fairways are wide, but knowledge of the place was still required. Greens with bunkers and some with water always well defended, so a strategic game was important.
Fairways great, bunkers great to play, greens excellent, fast and on track.
The most beautiful fairway was the 3, but a green well defended with water prevented us from attacking with the 2nd shot on this par 5.

Get out of the city and into the square

10 minutes from the Prater you can escape the noise of the big city and play a round of golf. It is not a large course, but it can be reached quickly and is easy to play, the greens are faster and better than many a well-known golf club can show. The fairways are easy, no big obstacles, but a nice and interesting atmosphere all around.
Ideal as a short break from the city. If you are looking for a break from the city, this is the place for you.

Round with charm

After hearing from more and more quarters that guests were now being warmly welcomed, I thought to myself, I would try the Freudenau again. I was not disappointed. The secretariat was extremely friendly both by telephone and in person, as were the members.

The club already has charm, the clubhouse, the location.

To the main thing, the place: A nice, left-like place. Small drawback: There are few holes that are immediately remembered, but there are also no bad tracks. Overall very consistent.

Maintenance condition was good.

Price performance fits. I know better places around EUR 80, but you're in the middle of Vienna.

Due to the location etc. I would be interested in membership, but the rumored registration fees put me off.

Very well maintained

It was the third time yesterday (in 4 years) that we played Freudenau. And we were of the unanimous opinion that the course had never been in such good shape and was so well maintained. Rich fairways like carpets and wonderful greens, fast, on track and tricky. Bunker maintenance: top. The rough as it should be: beastly and heavy. The layout is of course not "leading", but for a very relaxing day of golf in a green oasis in the middle of a metropolis, the course is top. The clubhouse and gastronomy are also very appealing and the famous frivolity of the members has completely disappeared, at least towards us.

Outside hui, play pui

Unfortunately, I was blinded by the first impression and the statement "First Golf Club of Austria" too much. With much euphoria I went to the round and was more than disappointed.
The fairways unfortunately do not deserve your name in any meadow. Rather already a mown meadow... If the Bunker and Greens were in a similar condition I would have canceled the round. The price of € 80, - is in no relation to the quality offered.
Thus my judgment: NOT RECOMMENDED!

A golf course with history

The GC Wien is located in the middle of the Auen area in the Viennese Prater. 18-hole (PAR 70) embedded in the galloping track, the course is very much in English conditions. The wind can also be a decisive factor here, but with a length of 5,800 meters, the course is quite sportive. On railway 3 a new water barrier was created this year, the tree stock is maintained regularly. By the Aunähe are always wild animals on the place to apply. Also the practice area (range, bunker, putting green) are sufficiently and strategically well placed. The office is very friendly to the club, the caddymaster to the top and the restaurant definitely worth a visit. Dogs are allowed on the pitch since 2016. Greenfee players are welcome from Monday to Friday at noon, otherwise you would rather be among themselves. The visit is worthwhile in any case, it is one of the places that one must have played in Austria!

Rich in tradition

In the middle of a large city to get a par 70 place over almost 120 years, that is already what. Sure, there are more exciting places, but few that have so much tradition and flair. In the square design in the area of the Rough and the planting is quite air up, but fairways and greens are ok very friendly members and coworkers. Only really poor are the sanitary facilities for guests, as has been improved. Always visitable!

Fore - horse from the left!

Golf: (to cross the latter must frequently between greens and the next tees) An amusing symbiosis between golf course and racecourse. Initially somewhat narrower lanes with trees and "Volcano greens" that does not make the Preview always easy. Then a little more open, but when the wind so demanding.

Place Condition: Good.

Conclusion: There is a golf club with tradition - even if me the place itself not knocks. With members to get may not be much in contact encountered were very friendly though. In the Secretariat of reception on all previous rounds was extremely nice and accommodating.

In a Wienbbesuch a must

Surely the best golf course in Vienna. Centrally located and accessible by public transport. No Startzeitenresevierung required never crowded, you can get a 18 holes in about 3 hours play fairways of the top class, fast greens, the site has links character and some very interesting golf holes. In a calm, not difficult to play, but since it is mostly windy, especially the four closing holes at West Wind is a real challenge. We will definitely be back soon!

Especially traditional

Over the years I have played several times in the Freudenau, wöhlgefühlt 2016. Properly last summer I was not there, you have a green fee player and not to be the impression welcome. While einses tournament told me a fellow player, you would not set here on guests.

The reason why the members want to have the space for himself to the tolerated green fee players opens up immediately. The complex is nestled between the airport highway, the warehouses of the port facilities and the Vienna waste recycling. Nice to look at, though already getting old, the. The whistle of Freudenauer Racecourse

The place itself is well maintained, but u dry very hard in the summer. The layout of the holes is ok, but sometimes one has blind shots in front of him. Panoramic view, there is not, you can fully concentrate on golf.

Conclusion: No absolute must. For quick 9 holes too expensive and relaxed 18 there are better alternatives.
