Characteristics
C. 340 acres house one of the most beautiful golf courses in Germany - rather a golf park. The majority of the holes was laid out on the palace park from the 19th century featuring gigantic fir trees, spruces, and more than 200-year-old oak trees. With its numerous ponds, streams, and biotopes, Maxlrain Palace is a true natural paradise. While the course is very sophisticated, the 9-hole short course is also suited for beginners.

Torn between two extremes

Great location, friendly welcome, Italian restaurant with a great view, e.g. of the Wendelstein mountain.
First, wide fairways where a birdie is possible, then the course leads into a former moor and woodland area. It narrows, and with that kind of distance, you really need the driver. That probably explains the numerous drainage ditches. This often limits your club choice. On my second playthrough, I'd often aim for the other side of the fairway. It's a course that's very much in harmony with nature, and as a result, it doesn't have a consistent design for the holes. One hole required a 170m first shot; my hybrid was too long, then I took a 200m shot around the corner. In my opinion, par on the 18th hole is impossible. After a 200m drive, there are magnificent old oak trees with enormous crowns on the fairway, offering a small alley for the second shot if you play it low. If you play that one like that, a 3 in regulation is easily achievable. It's a good thing there are pheromone traps to keep the flies away, given the amount of water. A good marshal and no rushed members, as we had over four hours of play.

Friendly welcome.
A spacious, well-maintained course with wide fairways and hard-to-read, true greens. The tees are not far from the greens—except for one hole—and walking is easy. Numerous ditches make the game challenging, but with approximately 6,000 meters from the yellow, it's a decent distance.
The club's restaurant was closed, but the nearby Bräustüberl (brewery) serves authentic Bavarian fare. Other interesting places nearby.
