Characteristics
This club was founded as early as 1902 and is situated at the Kiel Fjord in the midst of a landscape which is untypically hilly for northern Germany. The park-like terrain features a population of partly old trees and numerous declinations, providing a special challenge for golfers at all kinds of levels. In the golf season of 2002, the club moved into its new home, which is situated at the northern end of the community of Mönkeberg.

Up and down the hill

I think it's presumptuous to classify the course as slightly hilly. In some parts it's quite dangerously steep up and down. At the same time, we had the pleasure (warning: irony) of seeing the pro give us his lesson. Blind tees and deep dips are not secured with bells. The signage also leaves a lot to be desired. Anyone who wants to play a normal, relaxed round should avoid this course.

Place has 2 faces. The first 9 are more typical Schleswig-Holstein kink holes. The last 3 holes resemble a Bermuda triangle. 7 quite long, 8 short and narrow and the 9 very special. The second 9 are pure parkland. Everything is in top condition. Only the greens are a bit slow, but they stay on track. Oh yes, the road is there. Unfortunately.

We played the course in early June 2022. Friendly reception in the secretariat. Tracks 1-9 ( "the new ones") are now over 20 years old and well grown. Slightly more open than the historical fairways 10-18 (built in 1902). The latter are timeless and demanding. Just a dream. We found the place in very good condition. Only the background noise of the nearby and busy road spoils the overall impression on some tracks. The gastronomy also great.
An absolute must play for lovers of hilly parkland golf with ancient trees and tradition.
