The Golf Club Hetzenhof is idyllically situated at the foot of the Swabian Alb in an environment typical of this region with an open, slightly hilly terrain. Beautiful location - disappointing condition - unpleasant atmosphere

The course itself is beautifully situated in a scenic location and offers some fantastic views. However, the condition of the course was all the more disappointing for us – especially for a golf course that positions itself as a Leading Golf Course.
Unfortunately, playing here is not very enjoyable, especially in summer. The fairways are not only dry and scorched, but in some places so badly damaged that large areas are completely devoid of grass. Instead, you'll find numerous bare patches and extremely hard, parched soil. In our opinion, the greens were also not in the condition one would expect from a course of this caliber.
What most marred the otherwise pleasant impression was the atmosphere on the course. We found several members to be extremely unfriendly and, in some cases, even rude. Of course, one cannot and should not generalize about all members – nevertheless, we have rarely experienced so many unpleasant encounters on a golf course.
The restaurant is generally okay, although the price-performance ratio doesn't seem quite right. However, the sheer number of tourists is really bothersome: the terrace is absolutely overrun, and they even crowd the practice greens. Anyone hoping to practice in peace quickly feels like an attraction at a zoo.

We played at the Hetzenhof for the first time, round A+B or Hohenstaufen+Rechberg as they are called here. Already the reception was very friendly. You also feel welcome as a guest.
The course is in very good condition, from the lush practice facility to the driving range to the lanes. 1.00 euros for 23 balls is very fair. The green fee isn't cheap, but reasonable because the course is worth it. Signage is helpful and available wherever you need it. The greens are well maintained and playable, although sometimes challenging. I don't think it's appropriate to criticize the place for its layout. If you want flat, wide lanes, then you play somewhere else and that's fine. Only the B5 track is a bit extreme and the B6 track is no fun without the necessary carry (from yellow) of 150 m. We find the slopes on half of the tracks more of a challenge than having to complain about it.
And finally, a word about the people here. Maybe we were lucky, but the member who accompanied us to the back nine was extremely friendly and we were still sitting together after the round.
