Established in 1902, Göteborgs Golf Klubb holds the distinction of being Sweden's oldest golf club. Located in the scenic Hovås area, the course presents a masterful blend of parkland layout and seaside characteristics. Close to the city of Göteborg and seashore, here we are in the country with some very pretty views. This is a quite short but rather technical layout. You need a strait driver or a quite good spoon to make it here. The greens are small old style. Actually a quite stylish place, and I like it.

Yes, it's a really old course and therefore short, with many of the holes adjacent to each other. The course was in really good condition, and the greens were quite fast. Now for the negatives. The course was completely booked, and it was stormy (a real 6 Bft). This meant drama was inevitable. Some tee shots landed on the next hole. The constant calls for "fore" were inaudible in the strong headwind. As a result, players were often under constant fire.
By the way: I can't really recommend the restaurant. It's too expensive and the food isn't very tasty. Overall, there are much better places around Gothenburg.

The partially crossing fairways at one of Sweden's oldest courses are hardly a problem. The course is worth it because of the beautiful views of the archipelago. The back nine falls off a bit.
The reception was friendly, the fairways and greens as well as the green fee were okay. But the course can't keep up with the top facilities like Hills.
