Established in 1891, Windermere Golf Club is situated in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District National Park. The course is renowned for its spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding fells and its reliance on the natural landscape. Rather than sand bunkers, the layout features heather, bracken, and rocky outcrops that guard the narrow fairways and small USGA-spec greens. Precision is key on this scenic layout. A foggy day in windermere

A very old golf course in the middle of the Lake District, a 6 min. drive from Bowness. An open woodland course with lots of vistas on the surrounding hills. You start with 2 blind holes. The course is not very long (par 67) but it has all the difficulties of short 90 yards or long par 3 with tiny greens or small fairways uphill par 4 with heather or rocks on both sides. For a good course management, you have played more than ones. The front nine is more difficult. Green fee £ 60 after 2 o`clock special rates (£48). The driving range is 2 min. drive from the clubhouse (near Hole 3). Bring your own balls.

It starts with a very friendly welcome, a good grader, small pro shop. The terrain is completely and it is recommended to take an engine Caddy.
