Situated on the dramatic coastline of South Shields, Whitburn Golf Club offers a classic golfing experience rooted in history. Founded in 1931, the course was designed by the renowned firm of Harry Colt and Co. Positioned east of the Cleadon Hills, the layout provides stunning panoramic views stretching from County Durham to Northumberland, overlooking the North Sea cliffs. The 18-hole, Par 70 course is built on a natural limestone base, ensuring exceptional drainage and allowing for play nearly all year round on high-quality greens. Recent renovations in 2024 have enhanced the challenge with over 30 new bunkers and subtle design changes. The clubhouse features a lounge with commanding views, offering a perfect spot to relax after a round on this scenic and often wind-swept course.
