Characteristics
The Seve Masters course at The Shire London is laid out like few other golf courses in the world. There are six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s, and on both the front 9 and the back 9, no two consecutive holes are the same par, with equal numbers of par 3s, 4s and 5s. This gives maximum variety, and maximum enjoyment - a core philosophy of Seve's designs.
The course offers a number of different visual aspects. Some will have a distinctly links feel with gorse and high level fescues. In other areas we are creating woodland plantations with over 10,000 mature trees. There are parkland holes with dramatic water features. There is a choice of tee positions on every hole which you are entitled to play depending on your ability and your courage!

I had previously played the Royal Obidos in Portugal, designed as well by Seve (http://www. 1golf. eu/en/club/royal-obidos-golf-course/), and thus had high expectations!
And, I was not to be let down - this is a great course!
It fits well in the landscape, with nice separation between the fairways. There are many challenging holes, with water placed to protect the greens.
But, the course is never unfair, there is normally always an "easy way around", so it is also playable for beginners.
Only thing I didn't like - the rental clubs were overpriced and not really in a good state...

Noticeably Seves spirit everywhere

I participated in this course in the context of this year's Loudmouth Shagadelic Series. The Golf Club has received us well and professionally served.
The course is one of the nicest that I've played in England. Unusual but typical Seve the 6-6-6 division. 6 Par5,6 Par4 and just 6 Par3 holes. I was particularly impressed the handwriting of my golf idol Seve Balesteros. You could feel his spirit in every corner in the square. It was a little magical.
The course does not play easily, has some tricky water hazards and fairways hanging. We had fun in every situation.
A recommendation not only for Seve fans. Not necessarily suitable for beginners.
