Established in 1964 on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Golfklúbbur Suðurnesja presents a dramatic seaside challenge on its Hólmsvöllur course. This 18-hole links layout is carved through ancient lava fields along the edge of Faxaflói Bay, offering striking visual contrasts. The course is renowned for its signature 12th hole, 'Bergvík,' a daunting Par 3 requiring a shot directly over the Atlantic Ocean to reach the green. The stretch from holes 10 to 14 is often called Iceland's 'Amen Corner,' testing players with coastal winds and technical demands. Updated in 2024 to enhance playability, the club also features excellent indoor practice facilities and a welcoming restaurant with views of the coast.

Beautiful place - highly recommended!

Already from the clubhouse one offers a great view over this fantastically beautiful place and on the sea. The courses are very clear, with practically all holes you find a lot of space for playing (broad fairways), the greens and bunkers are wonderful playable. An absolute highlight of the course is at hole 9, where the fairway falls steadily, until you see the flagspitze in front of the halfway house. The holes are very diverse and are dotted with interesting water obstacles and terrain transitions. An absolute top spot, the left-golf at the highest level guaranteed! A small drop of vermouth is the only thing that runs 7 to 13 are practically all under the approaching of the airport Keflavik, whereby some golfers probably feel disturbed by the noise. The absolute beauty of the course and the game, which is characterized by numerous challenges, however, make this aspect in the Huntergrund.
