Are you serious?
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 29, 2023
We played there in Nov 2023 on green, but dry fairways and were not allowed to leave the cartpaths with the cart. We were forced to walk to each ball which resulted in a 5 1/2 hour round. Disgusting! Reason given by the manager: We have to look after our fairways throughout the year...
Don't play this course! Don't pay a cent unless you are given the confirmation that you can drive on the fairways!!!
overrated and overpriced real estate golf
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 13, 2017
yes, the ocean views are tempting for a good course rating, but that's not part of the golf. maximum rating to me is 3,5*.
the only challenges on this hilly course are the up and down plays and the undulated greens. otherwise no trees, wide open fairways, some bunkers without any drama and some bushes and high grass on the sides. the *championship course*-argument seems to be mainly because of some long holes, if you play the back-tees.
walking is not allowed and would be a bit tough, because of long walks between greens and next tee-boxes – typical real estate.
there are better and less expensive courses around knysna. you pay for noblesse, but the course isn't.

The Pinnacle's brother?
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 14, 2024
Looks like Pinnacle only not by the sea except for a few holes.
Not as playful as Sinola but clear without seeming cheesy.
After warming up playing on the Knysna golf course (you don't necessarily have to go there but it costs half the price) I drove the 3km left up to Pezula in the evening and requested a T-time for the next day. Very easy to find. The road leads directly past it.
Access without gate control, unusual and -easy going- like everything there. The bar was full of "good-humoured" lodge golfers who were trying to hit pitches from the mat from the terrace in this condition.
Leave a phone number and get a quick start time the next day. approx. 150 € 2 people with top cart. You can't walk Pezula and was in the cart despite the light drizzle... Awesome. The marshal drove away all the golfers and closed the top for us. A Dutchman and an Austrian joined us, which was good even though they didn't know the layout either and that was from Mr. T. We shot balls set 20° to the side in strong winds and down the slope into the wind. Sometimes 80m up to 180m carry due to hedges, water and ravines. This often went well, but not always. Clouds condensed on hole 18. Tee off over the gorge into the cloud that was forming - crazy. Looking for it in the fog. Good for ladies to play. Beginners will hardly find it fun.

A great day of golf with a very nice South African flight partner
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 27, 2024
We played the course on January 18th, 2024.
When making the reservation from Germany, 1x men's right-handed and 1x women's left-handed racket set was reserved, which was also confirmed to us.
On the eve of our tee time, we were informed that the reserved and confirmed women's left-handed set was not available and my partner had to switch to a men's left-handed set.
So off to tee 1 and here we met our flight partner. He came from Cape Town and had experience on the pitch, so he gave us one or two tips on what was a tricky pitch.
2 of the back 9 holes are a highlight in terms of landscape, as the game is played on the Indian Ocean.
We really enjoyed the day.
The staff at the club put in a lot of effort and were friendly and accommodating.
Unfortunately only 4 stars because it didn't work out as promised with the women's left-handed rackets.

It's a shame because it's extremely poorly managed
1.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 8, 2023
Have played this beautiful place. Unfortunately very difficult to find. No signage and the navigation system took us straight to a township.
The greenkeepers ignore the players and continue to mow the lawn cheerfully, even right next to the tee when you hit your shot.
When asked if you can't stop, we answered with a grin.
Never experienced such bad service on the pitch.
In the immediate vicinity of Pinnacle Point. Simona or Fancourt.
Never again Pezula!!!

Spectacular Place
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 19, 2023
Played the Pezula Course in bright sunshine at the end of February 2023. For me, this is one of the most beautiful and spectacular places in the world. At some "Infinity" holes you are almost drunk from the beauty of the panorama, which in my case was at the expense of the score. However, long distances and hilly design require a cart. The clubhouse and the service from the staff were very pleasant.

Fantastic golf course
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 27, 2022
We played the course on November 14,2022 at 7 a.m. and were the first on the course. We had the entire course to ourselves and were able to enjoy the magnificent views, the delicious halfway catering and the challenging fairways. Priced absolutely fine, we paid 995 ZAR for green fees incl. Cart. Contrary to other comments, we experienced very friendly staff here. We will definitely play the course again!

Insufficient quality of service
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 16, 2022
Shame about the beautiful place. The service is - especially if you take your own claims as a benchmark - very poor. First you pay in advance!!?? Canceling a tee time after that is like running an administrative gauntlet. Apparently not even the manager manages to get a towel to dry off when it rains. Some unfriendly and arrogant employees. You are bombarded with unnecessary hints and instructions on how to behave. What a nursery!

A wonderful, varied place with great views.
Very spacious, so the cart is included in the price.
We were practically alone because of the recently discovered Omikron.
Very well maintained but very difficult for a handicap of 30.

A scenic delight
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 17, 2020
The layout of the course is a real treat due to the view of the Knysna River and the other side of the Indian Ocean. The course on a ridge impresses with very beautiful fairways (5 and 14, and ...), excellent greens, extremely fast, on track and undulated.
We had a very strong wind (and the Corona Virus in the back of our minds) and so was our game.
The big drawback of the course were the very wet fairways, an extremely large number of “ground in repair” areas and the bad, extremely hard bunkers. Unfortunately!
You still have to play space due to the landscape.

Terrible at the moment (02.2020)!
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 26, 2020
With great expectation we drove to Pezula (f / 6 & m / 8). After Pinnacle Point, Mossel Bay and Oubaai this was unfortunately a bad experience, reception, instruction, friendliness were underground. Unfortunately, things went even worse on the pitch afterwards.
The greens were strewn with stones, the fairways were very large in GUR, and the rest could hardly be described as a fairway.
The square itself as such, well, an attempt to sell it as a creative and spectacular design has, in my opinion, completely failed.
You can just leave it out and visit the less advertised facilities.

Absolutely great...
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 17, 2020
... the holes along the cliffs, the holes along them go down a bit. However, that is whining at a very high level.
Sparrabosch was the name of the club when we played for the first time in 2001, shortly after the opening. It was considered the best new course in South Africa, today it is in the Top 20 and Top 10 of the Western Cape - and rightly so, as we think.
It is so, it is top in terms of layout, also from a playful point of view and you would still have to walk today like in 2001, also from a physical point of view.
A real bunker festival is waiting for some holes - they remind us of Scotland with their high edges - which simply does not recommend playing the driver at full capacity. A placed ball promises more success and that is not all, there are also hanging fairways waiting for a perfectly played ball to roll into a difficult position.
All par 3 are difficult, with many bunkers well defended.
If the wind is in the game it can be very rough, hardly a change from par.
On some greens we had the impression that they are fighting for the honor with the fairways. Their contours are not in the shadow of them.
Pack humility into the bag and enough balls - the semi stole some of us rolling away - so you can enjoy the round.
The view of the Nysna River and the Indian Sea is great.
There were great golf rounds, conditions partly perfect.
Great club house with very nice staff.

Promising playground
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 12, 2020
Pezula is another, still young course on the Garden Route, which was created as a core component of a resort based on the American model. The landscape high above the cliffs with its wonderful views was ideally used to build a very challenging course to play. The holiday homes of the South African upper class are on the railways - at a suitable distance. You have to like it, or just accept it, because without this concept, there would not be such excellent places. Everything is excellent, the condition of the fairways, the greens, the service, the friendliness of the staff and the members who can be assigned to the tee. Pezula is also a place that you should definitely plan on your tour along the Garden Route.

Compensate for spectacular views...
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 23, 2019
... we (hcp27 & hcp41) had the pleasure yesterday to play the Pezola square a day after Simola. The differences are impressive! Pezola has a lot more to say and is a challenge alone because of the wind. Seeing the spectacular coastline at the tee is priceless. For golfers with a high handicap to cope with a lot of joy - as long as you have the driver under control and can play accurately.
As in Simola, due to the large width, a cart is mandatory, which I personally don't like because of the sporty background but is inevitable if you want to play "on time".

We played the course at the beginning of November 2019, the view is breathtaking, but unfortunately the fairways as well as the greens were not in a top condition.

Nice and extraordinary, but expensive
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 6, 2019
Have played this next to 'Pinnacle Point' and 'Simola' probably one of the best places in the Cape region course in recent years and also on this holiday in early February 2019 again and again with enthusiasm. With 2700 Rand Green Fee for 2 Px incl. Cart, if not counting to the hotel guests, this place has meanwhile become comparatively expensive. Still, you must have played it while in the area. (Tip: in the afternoon often cheaper flatrate). Great sea views, wide ravines, beautiful forest landscapes and water hazards characterize the ups and downs, which should be mastered only with a cart. The staff is friendly and helpful and looks better organized than in recent years.
Conclusion: Rather difficult but very worthwhile place, for which one should carry enough balls and a decent HCP (with Carry of 150+ with the gentlemen).

5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 29, 2019
There are few nicer places than this one. Pinnacle Point may be even nicer or more spectacular. We were lucky enough to play with members on January 15th, 2019 and only had to pay about 200 Rand with Cart. The course is wonderfully embedded in the landscape. From many holes you have a sensational sea view. The place is however not suitable for all HCP classes. HCP over 25-30 can be very difficult here (I have HCP 8.4). The only things you can fault is the lack of a driving range and the greens were very hard (but you have to deal with that). Again, there was a great service.

5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 27, 2019
We played the course at the end of January. In the afternoon, more wind came up and that has of course made a strong impact. The state of the course was great, but our cart went out of steam at hole 14 and had to request a replacement card. That's not allowed to happen. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the game and had a lot of fun on the varied tracks. The view is not as spectacular as at Pinnacle Point but often a great view of the sea.

4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 4, 2019
Goods yesterday, 03.01.2019, on the square (hcp 10.30), beautiful, sometimes spectacular views, very hilly, due to the location right on the sea, very windy by the adjacent ocean, so not very easy to play. You'll need 2 to 3 clubs to reach the usual lengths. Greens very fast and well undulating. No room to go handicap hunting, but higher fun factor.

The place seems to be a money printing machine. From morning to late afternoon, one flight after the other goes out. We had tea time at 13:40, but it was so full that no carts were left. We had to wait for returnees to get a buggy. We finally started at 14:30. Very nice heavy place with great views. Can not cope without buggy. But also expensive for African conditions. We have paid for two including buggy 174 €.

Spectacular views at average course design
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 6, 2017
We played the course in February 2017th The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. For example, went in our cart during the round, the battery is empty, it has launched a new immediately.
The course was in fantastic condition, mention should be made here, especially the greens.
There are spectacular views of the sea, the cliffs and the Knysna Lagoon.
The Course Design on the other hand we did not find particularly appealing. The place is too hilly for our taste, it is virtually only the uphill or downhill. At the beginning you would be more about the discounts from top to bottom, but at some point it becomes too much. The tracks are designmäßig too boring because not varied.
The course is due to the design only with Cart playable.
Although with us at 9.00 am already a 4p-flight after another went out was the speed of play for a holiday place with 4:30 (incl. Obligatory Halfway) fine.
There is a well-stocked pro shop also very friendly staff.
Overall though, a great value for money (about Golf Pass South Africa EUR 50)!

Beautiful place in a great landscape
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 31, 2016
We (HCP 17 and 34) have played the course in October and can confirm most previous comments. However, to give only 2 or 3 points for this place, is completely incomprehensible to me.
Yes, the pictures fool you something, because that is not a country club, but an Estate. That you usually play along of holiday homes.
However, convinced the court through a lot of variety, excellent care, friendly service and some great views of the Knysna Bay and the Indian Ocean. The place calls ordinary lengths particularly in the tee. Nevertheless, one has to be a long hitter, but needs to tackle and enjoy every shot planned way. In order to have more rest, it is recommended on weekdays to play.
Tl large height differences and greens that are spectacular alluded top. The partly long ways and altitude (if you play down, you have to at some point up again) are with Cart no problem. But who expects a flat place on the cliffs, is always pre-set incorrectly. "Flatland Tyrolean" should rather have a beautiful parkland course search.
Overall, a challenge and a pleasant experience. Not as spectacular as Pinnacle Pointe, but worth a visit in any case. We enjoyed the place, the game and the beautiful day very. Therefore, we all in all 5 stars.

Spectacular and varied golf experience on the Garden Route
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 28, 2016
My wife and I have played this beautiful and challenging top rank on 01/27/2016. Pezula belongs hE of the outstanding places in the region Knysna / George. A number of paths with spectacular views of the Bay of Knysna or on the open sea. E-Cart is mandatory because it is to overcome a lot of altitude and sometimes long distances between the tracks.
The men and women should already have a further discount. Sometimes 150m + 120m + or carry over the gorges are in demand. At least take enough balls and go do not give up because 10-18 are the spectacular tracks. Negative we noticed only the overmatched caddies that not quite the hinbekamen with tee times and the timely provision of E-Carts.
Otherwise, top marks, for hole 19th

This place is definitely feasible only with the cart, the fairways are sometimes far apart and at very different levels. The site has relatively wide fairways, but which are sometimes very long and are well stocked with bunkers, water hazards or small ravines. Large undulating greens often request a 3-putt. Stunning views, but also a lot of houses. Good pro shop and very professional staff. In November, despite sunshine in Cart by the wind to be quite fresh, sweater or windbreaker remember. Tip: If low "reload" balls must, the can before or after the game they buy on the market in the nearby Knysna (corner Vigilance / George Rex Drive) or on the way to the Duthie Drive.

Unique view of the ocean
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 5, 2015
I played the beginning of January 2015, the court. The entire course is well maintained. The holes are varied and challenging. Through the cart (including electronic scorecard), the sometimes long distances between the tracks and the heights can be managed well. In particular, the tracks with ocean views are simply lovely. The greens are in difficulty (Ondulierung, speed) very different. In all the greens you have to be very careful.
I played in the afternoon. The flow of the game was ok - even without the intervention of a Marshalls. The service in the club (caddy master, pro shop, restaurant) was mediocre - as I have more customer orientation expected. That the club no driving range, but only room for the training of the short game has, I found disturbing. Prices are adequate.

A sea of houses
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 14, 2014
Played on 16.12.2013, HCP 13
Maybe I am doing something wrong yes the place - but the Advertising / Homepage awakens just high expectation of great views to the sea. You can see it on a few tracks (on 2 or 3 holes really spectacular) - especially on the front nine but you see, above all, a sea of houses. The development simply obscures view and mood - pretty "Spanish states" - a great pity.
Otherwise, the place is not bad - interesting, well-maintained tracks. Due to the usually quite extensive fairways not too difficult. With nearly 6,000 of the "Dark Blue" teas for this, however not too short ( "Gold" teas even 6.350m). Even so, but most of all because of the hilly terrain, you should just give up a cart, if you really want to take it sporty.
Greens also very fair - large, spacious and slightly undulated.
Conclusion: The court should not miss you when you're in the area anyway. If you are spoiled for choice, but rather Mosselbay Pinnacle Point or take away, even if the paths should then be something more. Better 3 ½ Stars - 4 it is not enough because of the strong development in many parts of the plant, however. (In the "Bear Golf Ranking": 6 out of 10 points).

Shared joy
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 29, 2014
The condition of the course was excellent, the greens are usually difficult to read, albeit more slowly. Visually, the holes 10-18 are significantly more productive than the first nine. Particularly difficult to play is not the place, even if a blind strike must be played on one or the other hole. The required length of the discounts is not as massive as described in other reviews. We had our peace on all 18 holes and arrived expeditiously ahead, what we enjoyed very much. Cart is mandatory and quite reasonable. The clubhouse is not outstanding, and offers the typical fast-food offer for South Africa.

Located directly on a plateau, it allows for views of the Knysna Lagoon and on the other side of the Indian Ocean. Challenging holes find their equals. The care, cleanliness and courtesy leaves nothing to be desired.

Exceptionally difficult place. The men are required; wait it interesting haircuts require the absolute length of time. Not play the score but enjoy. The great fairways, natural surroundings and a great panoramic compensate for the many lost balls. Pack enough balls!
The starter of a explains the concept of the place and inquired an incredibly nice guy on the course after the welfare. The adjoining restaurant "Zachary's" offers excellent cuisine at a high level. A reservation several days in advance is recommended.
