Characteristics
Silves is a quiet spot of land in the region Algarve, but its golf course is anything but a walk in the park. Silves Golf has a nice selection of par 3 holes, and the four par 5 holes are exceptional. Strategic playing determines the outcome of the game. Silves induces the golfers to play riskily, but it also rewards the courageous. This merciless test of precision challenges players of all handicaps. From most tees the golfer has a spectacular view on the surrounding valley with huge palm trees and an olive grove and on the Monchique Mountains.

Silves is a varied and well-maintained campsite (as of November 2025); within the Pestana group, it ranks in the middle range, reflecting its price point.
On the downside, there's the lack of a driving range and the still rather uninviting situation around the clubhouse (not enough parking spaces, a strange and uninspiring path to the 1st tee). On the upside, the course and especially the greens offer consistently interesting undulations, an exciting mix of very short and very long holes (two par 4s under 300m, but one par 5 almost 600m long), and the magnificent 12th hole (par 5, elevated tee, dogleg around a lake; for the daring or long hitters, the green can be reached in 2 strokes over the lake).
Another positive: a food truck, run by a dedicated and friendly young woman, has recently been set up at the 6th tee (or 10th green). You can even order sandwiches before teeing off on the 6th; these are then freshly prepared to order and can be picked up after the 10th hole.
Note on pricing:
Since Pestana has to offer significant discounts to hotel and resort guests, and also gives Golfamore players a 50% discount, the regular green fee is quite overpriced. Frankly, though, you only have yourself to blame if you play these Pestana courses at the official price. Golfamore, for example, is worth it even on the first round.

Played on October 7th. Secretary friendly.
GF of 145 euros excessively high, thanks to Golfamore Card for half the price.
The course is easy to cover on foot, but there are also longer sections.
Condition was completely OK, the greens were playable. The course was almost fully booked, but it sold out really quickly. At half time we had a beer at the refreshment stand with our flight partners from Sweden, it's vacation after all. All in all a lovely day of golf.

First, the course: it's actually a nice course that we've been playing regularly since 2019. You usually don't lose many balls.
Some of the tracks are long, especially when there is a headwind.
Fairways: already very brown in May, still OK in January to March and April. Greens: partly very undulating, but within the fair range, still in good condition. Some of the greens are already breaking up due to a lack of irrigation.
Raff: unkempt, right next to the fairways
Price-performance ratio: the Pestana group, but also other hotel-run facilities, are starting to go crazy with their prices. Every year, prices increase by double figures, which is driving away customers
Gastronomy: ok, new clubhouse, still reasonably priced
