Very unhappy, live on the algarve, golf course is overrated, and overpriced. I have played here three times and never again. Each game I played took far too long, with constant hold ups through slow play in front. The marshals serve no purpose, and do not encourage slow groups to increase there pace. On several tees people are selling lost golf balls, which should not be allowed on the course. The course is looking tired, fairways bare, tees not in good condition. Espiche is far better, and more cost effective.

I completely agree with UM's review. Palmares has always been one of our favorite courses, but we always played Alvor and Lagos! Alvor is currently closed for renovations (end of June 2026), and only the Lagos/Praia combination is playable! €120 per person + €50 for a cart without GPS, sanded greens, and Praia is a completely neglected field!!! The green fee is an absolute outrage, especially considering the huge construction sites around it! We won't be returning to this course for the next few years!

As you mentioned, the Alvor loop is currently undergoing renovation as part of our long-term improvement plan. We would also like to let you know that the Praia loop will also close to undergo its own renovation works. Although it remains fully playable at the moment, these improvements are being carried out to enhance the overall playing experience and course conditions for the future.
We would also like to clarify that our current Summer Special rate is €117 per player, which includes a shared buggy. This offer is available during the summer period and provides the best price value compared to the standard green fee.

Noisy construction sites, poor maintenance, high green fees

We were really looking forward to this course, based on many reviews in golf magazines. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The clubhouse, the reception, and the views were all excellent. However, this was all severely marred by the construction work, which was extremely noisy and carried clouds of dust throughout the entire course. It was unacceptable, especially considering the exorbitant green fees, which were completely disproportionate. Furthermore, the course maintenance was very poor on many holes.
