Characteristics

The world-class course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is an experience for both beginners and practised golfers. It offers interesting variations for longhitters but at the same demands a lot of presicion. Water obstactles and bunkers surround neat greens. In 1994 and 1996 this course was site of the Tourespana Masters and from 1997 - 2001 the Volvo Masters took place here.

Unfair treatment to non Hotel Guest

Golfcourse is almost booked over Barceló Hotel Guest. Greenfee Players outside the Hotel are not well seen. Greenfee Conditions 120 Euro per Player. Buggy for 48 Euros must be booked if a Tee Time prior to 12 pm is wished.
Conditions are somehow funny, since you can book Double Room with Breakfast directly at Barceló for around 100 Euro, and Greenfee is included. So, it is definitely not worthy to play the course for 120 Euro, even with a discount of 50% with Golfhaftet.
Golfcourse conditions is quite good. Nice layout, difficult to walk due to long distance between Greens and next Tee box.

Very sporty, long, beautiful…

If you don't feel like walking the sometimes long distances between the respective tees, you should take a buggy. The course is very sporty and therefore requires a certain level of fitness. Great raised tees tempt you to shoot. We really liked the montecastillo place and also the hotel (holiday apartment). Dogs are allowed to play golf. The club has good and spacious training facilities. Ideal for golf groups.
The food in the hotel is very good and typical of the country.

Only glory from the past!

Unfortunately, after a very nice reception by the employee in the pro shop, the confrontation with reality followed: the booked tee time could not be kept due to organizational problems and slow play. If the flight had not organized itself at the stop, the round would have taken even longer (almost 5.5 hours for us, despite the cart). Neither at the start nor on the round was there a marshal who would have organized or monitored the flow of the game. With good organization, it would have been really fun to play the course. Because although there was one or the other hole that looked really good, it didn't leave a lasting objection. Because the maintenance condition was not the best, haircuts crooked and unkempt, fairways too dry and bunkers not in good condition (but sand was good to play). Greens were really fast, but also had a lot of bad spots. Due to the different heights of the individual tracks, you always had a good view, unfortunately not a good view due to the many ruined buildings in the background. The engine noise from the nearby race track wasn't that bad, maybe you have to play during the week to not hear anything from the track here either.
