Characteristics
Mijas is indeed one of the most popular courses at the Costa del Sol. The fairways are very challenging. They offer a challenge for players of all strengths. The 13. hole at Los Lagos and the 14. At Los Olivos form the most characteristic and difficult hole of the course.
Both courses pay homage to the architect's philosophy "difficult par, easy bogey", with very little rough, plenty of water and is relatively flat.

Pleasant holiday golf on Los Lagos

Played at Los Lagos on September 16,2026. The 36-hole course is located approximately 27 km inland from Malaga Airport, in the direction of Marbella, above the coast. The route is well signposted. This review focuses solely on the Los Lagos course, as this was the only one played. The Los Olivos course is currently undergoing renovations and, according to the pro shop, will reopen in spring 2027. You need to know the way to the clubhouse. Turn onto a small road at the starter's house, drive past the driving range, and continue down about 200 meters to the clubhouse, where the pro shop is located in a separate building. The friendly ladies in the pro shop will give you your ticket, which you then need to use to collect your cart from the caddymaster at the depot opposite. From there, drive the 200 meters back up to the starter's area. Do not use the access road, but rather the cart path, as the GPS cart will otherwise malfunction. The starter is also friendly and provides information on the way to the first tee. This is located across the road that divides the Los Lagos course in two. To reach the 10th tee, you return along the rather busy road, passing the halfway house. The 13th tee is located next to the 10th, which requires some coordination between groups. Tees 1,10, and 13 are slightly elevated. Los Lagos is generally walkable and is a pleasant resort course with mostly very open fairways. Losing a ball is rare, unless you land in one of the numerous water hazards (it is Los Lagos, after all). The holes are rather unspectacular, water hazards aside. A few bunkers complete the enjoyable golf. The course was in good condition. The greens are only slightly undulating but true. The fairways were lush green but unfortunately also very damp, and the tee boxes were well-maintained. The sand in the bunkers was rather hard in places due to watering and the lack of subsequent preparation. On the 18th hole, there's a risk of being hit by sliced balls from the driving range. Incidentally, the driving range offers a TrackMan at every tee. The green fee is in line with the Marbella region but reasonable. We paid €217 for two players with a cart. It's cheaper in the afternoon with the sundowner rate. The course was busy on a Wednesday afternoon. There were slight waiting times due to several foursomes, but these were acceptable. Overall, I can recommend the round at Los Lagos. It's not hopeless!

We tried again with Mijas (Lake Course) after 3 years...
And it hasn't gotten any better, quite the opposite, in fact.
Fairways barely playable at best, sand bunkers still concrete.
At €65 for a pitch, it's cheap compared to other places in the area, but still not worth the money.
Anyone who gives this place 5 stars has probably made a mistake about the location or will have to explain themselves when they are asked to rate a real 5-star place.
