Exciting place

You should definitely take a cart, the tracks go quite uphill/downhill, at least on holes 1-12. The course is fair, even if there are a few holes where you have to be careful that the ball stays on the plateau and doesn't come back towards you (holes 3,6, 8,12 and 14). I call holes 5-8 Amen Corner, starts with a great par4 downhill, and then 3 par5 holes that are really tough. From the 13th hole the course becomes wide and open and you play in beautiful nature. Finally, a great par5 that you can happily finish with a birdie. A wonderful place with very friendly staff and the restaurant with a great terrace is also recommended! Always my pleasure

Great place in a beautiful landscape

Played end of March 2023, HCP 14

Please don't be alarmed - at first glance the course looks extremely narrow and mountainous. The latter is also true, there are quite a few meters of altitude to overcome - a cart is strongly recommended, there is a good reason why an extensive fleet is available! The fairways are actually not particularly expansive, but the landing zones are wide enough, clearly visible and mostly surprisingly flat.

The lanes run up and down through a beautiful forest area (including a waterfall) - on the edge there are some imposing villas, which fit well into the landscape and seem "old" enough that there is no constant "new construction" noise to be heard here is, it's refreshingly quiet. (Only the 18th green is currently under construction.) Overall, the facility is similar to the “El Chapparal” or “Alhaurin” courses – those who like them will also feel at home here.

Water is practically not involved and the bunkering is also manageable. The greens aren't overly tricky either, but they're lightning fast - that's fun! The game here is still not easy - it is QUITE hilly and the holes are very varied.

The condition is exceptionally good.

I have the impression that the facility is mainly frequented by members and less by tourists. Although we played on a Monday afternoon, the place was well attended - but the game was played quickly. Maybe you don't want to welcome too many "visitors" here - the slightly excessive green fee (currently regular EUR 120) indicates this. Nevertheless, as a guest you feel comfortable here - the staff in the ProShop and Gastro were extremely helpful and friendly.

Another little ATTENTION!
There are several places in the area that have "Marbella" in their names. So please do not confuse it with the "Marbella Golf Country Club" or others!

Conclusion: An interesting to play, beautifully landscaped and well-maintained course - gladly again! Almost 4 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 7 out of 10 points.)

Great again!

Now this spectacular course is back in great shape. After the heavy rains of the last two weeks, it's still a bit soft in places, but that will soon be better. As almost always in the week before Christmas, there is little activity, so that the two of us (with our own e-trolleys!) got around in 3:45. In a buggy (highly recommended for all non-mountain climbers) it would have been much faster.
Also next to the square everything is tip-top.

Varied and very good course condition

Played on 2/27/2022. The 18-hole course is on a hill above the AP7 motorway between Estepona and Marbella. You play in complete silence. Some magnificent villas are located above the fairways. Mass tourism development is not to be seen here. There are some elevation changes and longer distances between tees. It is a good idea to take a cart, of which there are enough available at the club. The tracks are absolutely varied and created some very challenging. The height differences can lead to blind shots. There are a few water hazards and well-placed bunkers. From one or the other men's tee you have to stretch quite a bit to reach the fairways. A few tee shots are also a little narrower and require precision, otherwise the ball will be lost in dense undergrowth or a small ravine. Higher HC should choose the front tees. From some elevated tees you have wonderful views. The sea can also be seen once or twice. The 2 (PAR 3) or, for example, the 10 and 18 are certainly special deductions. The condition of our game was excellent. The greens are in great shape, fast as an arrow and faithful. It looked like the greens had been reseeded not too long ago. In any case, almost all discounts were newly sown. Apparently, if you look at the previous reviews, what seems to have been done in terms of maintenance. The clubhouse is small but nice. In the small pro shop you pay the friendly staff your green fee, which varies depending on the season. We paid €80 which is absolutely metered. March 1st is high season and we would have paid €110, which is already at the limit. A cart costs €40. You can see and book tee times on the homepage. When the weather is nice, the game is probably quite busy. Even with a light drizzle, as with our game, there were a few flights and there may be waiting times. It is best to play early in the morning or in the afternoon. The caddy master is friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the clubhouse is small but cozy. We sat there by the fireplace after the round and had a delicious breakfast. The service was friendly and quick, the food was good. I can highly recommend a varied round at the Marbella Club Golf Resort.

Price not justified

Have played the course for the second time after 2019. Layout and fairways are okay, but the greens, if you can call them that, are in a sorry state, partly painted green!?! There are better places in the area that are considerably cheaper.

Oh dear - what a condition

Our enthusiasm for this place (see also Rating of November 2014) received a massive damper. The current state of the place is miserable. To some extent, only the deductions are maintained. The fairways all have short, straw-like grass on sandy-soft ground. A well-groomed short game is virtually impossible. And long blows randomly roll "somewhere" after landing. The rough is also straw-like and bristly. If it is not so dense, the ball sinks into it. But that's even less bad than just lying on top. Then threatens namely a stealing... The greens are fast and qualitatively quite different. Some greens are unfortunately covered with stains.

After all, a (weak) consolation: Compared to other places, which already have high season prices, the green fees here are still winter moderate.

Conclusion: In the coming weeks and months, we will avoid the place.

Unique golf experience!

Have played the square end of Jan. 2017 (Hcp -15). Both the court and the Club, located in the hinterland of Estepona, are unique in the entire region. Away from the usual of all the coastal bustle, this resort offers a great, varied and perfectly manicured course.
And although in the mountains of this course is without any goat-seat appearance but offers exciting holes in a wonderful average difficulty.

All this at a green fee that is not much higher than in many other places - but still extremely much more to offer.

The club is incidentally just as sporty elegant and the staff is extremely friendly and courteous. Kitchen super, prices ok.

Space for the Marbella region ok

We (4) were the beginning of October 2016 a Goklfreise 10 days in the Marbella area. Basically there are better destinations in Europe.
This club has a difficult Driving (barely signposted) and roads in poor condition. Thanks Navi we have a considerable delay found the place.
Staff and clubhouse very good! Place was in reasonable condition for this region. Buggy is a must as very hilly. Annoying are the indications of possible robbery at some tees and greens. Scenic otherwise a beautiful place. Difficulty: Centered.
Clubhouse Catering recommended.

We played the course a second time, however, it began to rain. We had to stop the game after 4 hole, not because of the rain but because riding with buggies because was too dangerous. Uphill slipped the wheels on the concrete runway and only by joint sliding hill could ever be passed. Downhill was braking very dangerous because the strollers side wegrutschten and tipping was possible. Only through long detours and cruise the fairways could come without prejudice to the clubhouse back.

Poor condition of fairways!

We (HCP 5 and 9) wanted to play because of the good recessions actually here today. Upon arrival green fee incl. Cart € 102.50 paid from auf's first tee and equal the surprise. Fairways fresh aerifiziert and not a word when booking or checking in. Very weak.
Go back to the clubhouse, the complaining, then came the answer there are probably 6 - 8 fairways today or yesterday been aerifiziert, the rest will follow, but the Grün's are in good condition. We had to laugh, have but also get our money back without hesitation.
Too bad, we would have liked to play the course, but not for 100 € fresh aerifizierten fairways!

Grandiose landscape, ...

However, the greens were rather dull, the discounts even in 5 star status, the driving range puny, the roads improved, the layout of the place but excellent!
Always interesting fairways with great views (especially from the 18 - Gibraltar in sight), elevated tees, beautiful villas (vereinzelnt) at Fairway edge, an overall very nice place, with a great closing hole (par 5).
The secretariat and in the small but fine restaurant extremely friendly service! High praise.

So that makes golf fun

Curious because of the good reviews we have (Hcp 17/21) booked the place - and can only confirm the findings.

For directions must reckon on a few minutes longer than usual. The reception was friendly and uncomplicated. A driving range is available and served its purpose. From the first hole screwing up first up the hill. The holes are varied and pose new challenges again and again. In between, you will be rewarded with great views.

The condition of the course was excellent as was the flow of the game. The slightly remote location, the difficulty and the moderately higher price probably lead to the fact that the large masses fail. A buggy is highly recommended.

The clubhouse is in fact very small and convinced with supply and friendliness of the staff.

In February, we are in the area again - and will definitely be back here!

So it should be!

Top condition of the course. Difficult to play, according to not be flooded by wandering "golfers". Sporting thing the fair calls. Buggy is a must otherwise be a little lacking the strength for a good score. Highly recommended at any time.

Magnificent Dave Thomas Design

Have (hcp 9 and 14) played there in late August. As the journey and also the signs are pretty bad (perhaps intentionally so) we were a little late to the booked start time there. We have already picked up in the parking lot with a buggy and then integrated without fanfare in the Spielfluß. Excellent.
The course is in great condition, the design really spectacular.. many downhill surcharges (of course, it goes elsewhere then uphill again :-)), through canyons with scenic views. Prompts the athletic golfer. For high-handicap. my opinion not necessarily suitable. Must be buggy because the tracks run through several canyons.
Small, very chic clubhouse.
