Characteristics
This is a superior par 72 innaugurated in 1.999, designed and built by Dave Thomas. The condition of the course is magnificent, with excellent fairways and roughs plus welcoming greens. The views all over the resort are absolutely fascinating, especially from tee 18 from where you will see the African Coast and Gybraltar. This course is owned by the best hotels in Marbella, the Marbella Club and the Puente Romano Hotels, meaning that the level of service provided is excellent. Without a doubt, Marbella Club Golf Resort is a must when visiting Costa del Sol.

More apparent than...
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 9, 2025
The course design is actually interesting and you can play a nice round with a buggy, but the condition of the course is average at best now in January. The greens are painfully slow and have not been mowed or rolled for a long time.
At €18 for three logo balls, it's clear which league you want to play in... Even in January, €100 green fee per person is pretty daring, in high season €150 is pretty cheeky. For me, it will have been a one-time visit.

Exciting place
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 6, 2024
You should definitely take a cart, the tracks go quite uphill/downhill, at least on holes 1-12. The course is fair, even if there are a few holes where you have to be careful that the ball stays on the plateau and doesn't come back towards you (holes 3,6, 8,12 and 14). I call holes 5-8 Amen Corner, starts with a great par4 downhill, and then 3 par5 holes that are really tough. From the 13th hole the course becomes wide and open and you play in beautiful nature. Finally, a great par5 that you can happily finish with a birdie. A wonderful place with very friendly staff and the restaurant with a great terrace is also recommended! Always my pleasure

Great place in a beautiful landscape
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 23, 2023
Played end of March 2023, HCP 14
Please don't be alarmed - at first glance the course looks extremely narrow and mountainous. The latter is also true, there are quite a few meters of altitude to overcome - a cart is strongly recommended, there is a good reason why an extensive fleet is available! The fairways are actually not particularly expansive, but the landing zones are wide enough, clearly visible and mostly surprisingly flat.
The lanes run up and down through a beautiful forest area (including a waterfall) - on the edge there are some imposing villas, which fit well into the landscape and seem "old" enough that there is no constant "new construction" noise to be heard here is, it's refreshingly quiet. (Only the 18th green is currently under construction.) Overall, the facility is similar to the “El Chapparal” or “Alhaurin” courses – those who like them will also feel at home here.
Water is practically not involved and the bunkering is also manageable. The greens aren't overly tricky either, but they're lightning fast - that's fun! The game here is still not easy - it is QUITE hilly and the holes are very varied.
The condition is exceptionally good.
I have the impression that the facility is mainly frequented by members and less by tourists. Although we played on a Monday afternoon, the place was well attended - but the game was played quickly. Maybe you don't want to welcome too many "visitors" here - the slightly excessive green fee (currently regular EUR 120) indicates this. Nevertheless, as a guest you feel comfortable here - the staff in the ProShop and Gastro were extremely helpful and friendly.
Another little ATTENTION!
There are several places in the area that have "Marbella" in their names. So please do not confuse it with the "Marbella Golf Country Club" or others!
Conclusion: An interesting to play, beautifully landscaped and well-maintained course - gladly again! Almost 4 stars. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 7 out of 10 points.)
