Characteristics

As the name already implies ("Küste" meaning "coast") the course is situated in immediate vicinity to the North Sea and offers varied holes, typical for the landscape. Five small pools call for a precise game. The fairways are generous and leave the constantly blowing wind to be underestimated for the most part. Instead it is the high rough or the rows of bushes on the sides that reveal the true degree of difficulty.

Apparently remodeled...

I can't confirm the older "average" reviews here. Maybe the place has been redesigned since then?! Very good condition of the fairways and greens, varied design and a super nice club employee made the club what it was for us. Only the somewhat limited gastronomy (times and offerings) stands in the way of full marks, but that could also have been a daytime perception. So I would recommend “going there even with a small detour”.

Golf on the coast with a cut in the B-grade

Played on May 24th, 2020. The 18-hole course is located in a southern district of Cuxhaven in absolute tranquility and nature. You can see some species of birds, many seagulls on the fairways and even a deer ran into us. You don't see the North Sea or the Elbe, but you can tell from the wind, for example, that the coast is nearby. The course is a mixture of ingrown parkland but a few open lanes. Where the tall trees line the fairways, at least the rear tees can get quite tight. There are also water hazards that come into play from time to time, such as at 2 and 16. In addition, there are two 90 degree doglegs and some bunkers. Not all of them, but some of the tracks are quite varied, so it never really gets monotonous. The state of care in our game, especially the Fariways, which was unfortunately not particularly good. There were some dry and bald spots and unfortunately also a lot of daisies and dandelions. Some moles and apparently also wild boars cause additional damage and thus “ground in mending” on the court. The paths between the tees and some tees themselves often looked rather neglected. The greens were quite slow overall during our game on a Sunday afternoon (maybe not mowed during the day?) And partly heavily soiled with leaves and pollen when the trees were blown off by the wind, so that you first had to putt an alley had to be exposed. The current construction work on lanes 10 (was shortened from PAR 5 to PAR 3), 11,12 and 18 did not make a nice impression. Unfortunately, this was not announced on the homepage. The current green fee of € 55 at the weekend is basically okay, but a reduction would be appropriate due to the general circumstances. We were able to pay the green fee itself on Sundays at 3 p.m., neither in the secretariat nor in the pro shop, since it was already closed. In the restaurant, we were directed to the green fee mailbox, which we then used. If you have a Golf Albrecht voucher, you can also redeem it here at the weekend. The Marshall lady at Tee 1 and the members we met were all very friendly and greeted. All in all, a nice club if the slightly below-average maintenance condition hadn't been.

Construction site lack of irrigation and traffic jam on the round

If you rebuild the place that's okay but then you should probably distance yourself from the full 55 euros! Regarding the condition of the fairways, at the end of May I have never seen such a parched soil! What is also annoying is if you played the first 9 holes after 90 minutes (in a triple flight) and then it takes 2:10 hours for the second 9 holes (alone) because it is so brutally jammed!
On the other hand, the reception was very pleasant, as were the two partners who were booked for the round!
I would certainly go back but at 55 euros in its current state is too expensive! When the new practice area is ready and you either get the irrigation under control or get back to the bottom of the matter with the green fee. But the place is certainly worth a round trip
