Call ahead to avoid a wasted green fee

This is an excellent golf course, pretty long and technical, cleverly bunkered and punishing rough. But... as i write this, the greens have been practically unplayable for months. Like trying to play on a football centre circle half way through the season. Patches of mud/ bare pits between areas of grass. Completely ruins the pleasure of the round, despite the rest of the course being in fine shape. I guess greedy management refused to close the summer greens during winter snows / frost, and they died.

Pretty nice

Interesting and not as difficult as mentioned. Very nice people and easy to find a t-time. Fairways ok, greens nice. Holes a bit apart from each other, renting a cart was a good choice.

We thought it was good…

Long paths between the green and the tee ensure plenty of walking. 90 bunkers surround the fairways, mostly positioned to the sides. Water comes into play only on two holes – the par 5 (hole 2) and the par 3 (hole 10), where players have to play over ponds. The rest remains dry.

A highlight are the elevated holes 11 to 14 around the Mercure Hotel and the clubhouse. A quiet location, hardly any wind, only the sounds of nature – ideal for taking a deep breath and clearing your head. Beautifully maintained – nothing to complain about.

This is a typical members' spot. In the Eagle Bar, all members and locals sit together for meals. You can also feel this familiar atmosphere as a guest.
