The 9-hole course, founded in 2004, is sitauted on the hills of the Vienna Woods and offers, framed by groups of trees, great panoramic views on the attractive landscpae. The slightly modelled terrain with the longest par 5 of the Vienna Woods, its doglegs, sheets of water and the enormous bunker landscape, convey a golfing experience of a special kind, not least thanks to the cooperation with ecologists and ornithologists.

Since my last review, we've played Breitenfurt several times again. It remains a very attractive, exceptionally well-maintained course that, while short, is tricky. The criticism regarding the fixed tee times for the 2x9 holes has been taken seriously; you can now briefly stop by the pro shop (which, by the way, is particularly nice and friendly) after completing the first nine holes and, if space is available, book an earlier tee time. Paying the green fee after your round is also now possible if the pro shop isn't staffed at the start of your round. We still find it a shame that purchasing a 10-round package is only available to members of partner clubs.
Another positive development: The club restaurant has significantly improved in quality.

First of all: we really like the course; it's short, but exciting. What costs us two stars is the course management: after arriving at the course yesterday after booking our tee time, the reception desk was closed. There's no indication of this on the website. If you don't have the green fee in cash and divided accordingly, you're out of luck, because it clearly states there that you're not allowed to start the round without paying in advance. This is incomprehensible, because players could have been given the option to pay after the first 9 holes (the reception desk would be open then). Second criticism: You can't book 18 holes in a row, but have to enter two tee times for the first 9 holes and then the second – and this time is meticulously monitored at 9-minute intervals. How on earth are you supposed to predict down to the minute when the first 9 holes will be completed?? When we booked, there were hardly any tee times available, so we assumed a quick game. When we arrived, everything was full, and the delay was correspondingly great. Third criticism: the greens were freshly sanded and prepared, making them far from playable. This isn't mentioned on the website, and the full green fee is charged – completely unusual at other courses. It's a shame, as this scares away guests who would like to come more often.

I last played the course about 10 years ago and thought I'd take another look.
I was warmly welcomed by the club manager in the office and booked my tee time about 30 minutes later.
In the restaurant next door, I fortified myself with an espresso and sensational apricot cake, and a little later, without great expectations, I arrived at the first tee.
A member of the golf course booked himself in with me, politely asked me as I teeed off on hole 1 if that was okay with me, and we started the round together.
I have to honestly admit that the course was in perfect condition, the greens were fast, the new green bunkers were playable and visually a dream.
It's hard to believe that you're not far from Vienna's city limits; the scenery in the Vienna area is really hard to beat.
After the round I fortified myself with a good pinsa and am already looking forward to my next visit, hopefully with such a nice flight partner.
