Aussie Golfer plays gut Huhnerhof, Gelnhausen

I managed to discover friendly Pro David Thomas, also originally from Brisbane Australia at this delightful, grassy & challenging course. Received great help hiring clubs & advice, enjoyed playing 3 rounds in damp & rainy conditions (April 2009).
Very much looking forward to return games in 2012 when course is to be extended to 18 holes.

All the best @Huhnerhof

Disappointed

We had been a member for a few years, had to take one year out for health reasons and now wanted to rejoin. But unfortunately that has now been done. Even though we were no longer members, we played golf at the chicken farm when our health was working again. So also on Sunday on the 9-hole course. When we were still using the driving ranch a little after the game, the employee there made a loud phone call outside. When we asked for a little more quiet, we were approached very rude. Unfortunately, this was not the first time, we simply lack the warmth that we got to know at other golf clubs. It is just more fun to play golf when the appreciation and etiquette are given. It's a shame because we like the seats very much.

Okay, but not really a golf atmosphere

First to me to understand my rating. Am a sporty VCG player (HCP 15 last year HCP 25), self-employed, in his 40s looking for a club in the eastern Rhein-Main area together with his wife (HCP 18). Know the GC Hühnerhof from training, practice rounds and a few tournaments. We played all relevant clubs Seligenstadt, Altenstadt, Bad Orb, Träges, Hanau and also Groß Zimmern several times. Mostly during the week, but also on WE.
First of all to the plant:
9 hole course very demanding, wavy, very nice location, well maintained, greens but rather slow, not super loyal, but somehow nice. 4 stars.
Training equipment actually good, but very hard old mats, ball quality ok, basket 2.50 36 balls, little goals on the range. Good pitching arena, practice green ok, but like greens rather slow and double. 3-4 stars.
Pros Peter Jacobi and Fabian Ochse very competent coaches, who have improved me technically fast, but will not be there in 2020, therefore only 2 stars 18 hole course: spacious, great view over the Kinzig valley, course design quite good, very long, Faiways of the drought sometimes heavily taken, unfortunately very few fairway bunkers, at hole 6 unkempt mounds, greens very hoppy, slow, a lot of moss, tea boxes, not well mowed, only yellow and red stuck, flag position often not in the right place according to Ausflaggung, Exercise range quite, unfortunately also hard old mats, 3-4 star tournaments: in relation to other Very, very few tournaments. 1stern.
Clubhouse: The restaurant Heckers, with terrific views, is a relatively expensive for the country in my opinion restaurant and no clubhouse, there seems little or no club life to give the club (notices etc) in the basement (on the way to the showers) instead of. Here you realize that it is an operator club, which apparently has no great interest in a club life. 1 star.
Management: Secretariat nice, but somehow not golf-competent, wanted to play with a larger group 12 and have a discount, 3 Euro discount after a long discussion with an older club manager.
There are other clubs much more professional. 2Sterne Proshop: there is not really, 1 star overall impression: if you are club life and a real golf course, then there are much better facilities, it is a total of an impressive facility, but somehow unfinished with little golf atmosphere and the space quality is rather stagnant. It somehow feels that golf is not lived there. 2 stars therefore.

Good place

A fair and well maintained 18 hole course, which is not easy to play.
Long hitters have to be careful, but everyone else has to be careful.
In addition, very friendly and helpful staff.
Particularly noteworthy is the clubhouse restaurant. Again courteous service and very good food.

Beautiful 18-hole course

My wife and I had to learn on a practice round the 18-hole course near the pleasure yesterday. Fortunately, we had a local member of the Flight so us some surprises are not materialized. Overall a very interesting course and interesting place, which was in a good condition.
At this point I would like to mention the golf course very friendly and spontaneously active personnel. The atmosphere of the clubhouse, dining options and the breathtaking view are excellent.

Value, friendliness, ambience and style have to be able to find us convinced a new home.

Feel comfortable

I can not really understand these reviews. Currently we are playing in Gründau (yet) from and against Green Fee, superior but based on our experience and excellent transport links to be full members.

For clarification in US case would be interesting to learn what "is not true" to the commentary by M. Hecker. If that is indeed the case arose from the previously unknown modification of 4p resulting in 3 Flights effort for 26 people, the additional timeframe is quite easy to understand that, at least 2 more flights, which have to be accommodated in time. All possibly behind booked flights have about safe and very happy...

Anyway, we have such experiences not yet have to do, on the contrary, you actually always trying to find a solution, even if it is full time actually back on the court...

The place itself is interesting and not easy to play and with increasing age ever "better". The current state is in spite of the drought still be described as acceptable, even haircuts doing very well and the greens fair.

The clubhouse is pleasant "different" like, on one or the other architectural perhaps. something "antiseptic" but act food and drinks are great and very praiseworthy, and to sit on the lap of the terrace overlooking the greens of holes 9 and 18, is wonderful. But even if you're sitting there, you can enjoy a wonderful view on several sides.

We like to come here, of all places in the area, in particular with this price / performance ratio, it is we have the most pleasant.

There should be a review option between "excellent" and "good" type, because that is a covered but well would be too little (or would have to be "outstanding" adds another, because there are certainly better places).
All in all, I would regardless of the lawn condition a "Very Good" award - with potential for improvement.

Groups are not welcome!!

I must emphasize fully the comment "etiquette", my Vorschreibers! The statement of the "manager" to comment - is not true!

Groups are not allowed - despite green fee payment of € 1363.- !!

Friendliness - none!!!

Communications mail / fax etc. - Nothing, nothing!!

Ambience - great, but cold and arrogant!!

Guest players - were called proletarians!

In short - service oasis Hühnerhof

Etiquette

The title phrase was with the first thing that was learned me when I started playing golf. In this club that seems to have a different meaning. We were logged on last Sunday with a group of 30 players. Only our tee time was postponed by 30 minutes behind, so could still play a "locals". During the round some as "proletarians" were called. And for the scorecard evaluation wanted to € 10 per person extra. So a Aroganz've experienced nowhere. I'm sorry to take this conclusion, especially since I live in Hanau and had at D. Thomas Trainer hours. This place never again.

Vorneweg: We're sincerely sorry that a visit of our place has left such a bad impression on you. However, we want to add some supplements from our perspective here.

From the beginning, we were asked tee times willing to keep for a total of 26 persons from 10:30 clock. These times have been reserved and will not be moved. One problem was probably the fact that the group in question wanted to play in triple instead of four flights. This was against us but does not mention a single word during the planning.

Furthermore, negotiated with us special rates for normal green fees, which we also einhielten. On our demand, we received the answer, that an evaluation of its results is not desirable because it is always connected with us at an additional cost.

Best Place casual atmosphere

The place is now out of the baby years and comes to preschool. That is, there are not yet any large trees, and a two piles of dirt along the way may still gone. The course is demanding and the height differences are not without means of Hesse. For this, you can enjoy a fantastic view in many places. There are a few blind shots and some crunchy slopes, which is why a native makes in the first round sense. The clubhouse at the highest point of the system with superb distant view is one of the largest and most beautiful in Hessen, possibly in the FRG. The greens are in great condition and may not even be a bit faster, which brings the time. The prices are fair. Everything top!

Up and down repeatedly on chicken :-)

Have the new 18 some time ago - hole course played the chicken run.
It was wonderful enough going on since I was there during the week, so I could bring forward the reserved start time by 1 hour.
It begins with the 1 on the first one makes the blind blows that the green in a valley is the only one from the last third rail looks. Blind shots are the way to play this requirement when place ;-)
But most are prerequisite GOOD CONDITION FEET and as it goes up and down on this place, and not too tight! If a game does not demand it's the height difference of the recommendation will be addressed :-) if one is not the best runner or rather STEIGER: CART BUSINESS! They will think about the whole round, "Thank God" :-)
The course condition was good, you realize that he is very new and is still partially built. The clubhouse is huge and certainly great when it's done!
Summary: Good if steep place :-)

Suitable for round fun

Give my speakers right: some deductions / greens are built unusual and thus partially dangerous when hitters or "talent-free" move. Even the greens are in state care, unfortunately, only below average (too soft, too long).
Had the good fortune to play with a local, so I saved me several misjudgments in dogleg or blind scan and then it's really fun. The tracks are pleasantly short that GiR is always easily possible (HCP12). The tracks are varied, beautifully integrated into the sloping landscape and are well worth the trip. The hotel on the premises offers excellent price / Leistungsverh. and recommended to the attached restaurant with decent, hearty food and beer garden, perfect for the round in sport clothes!
When green is better the 9 Square and around it even worth 4 *.
Opened the new space from Aug'12, but not for guests, unfinished, clubhouse looks gigantic.

Suitable for the fast lap (9-hole course)

On 27 July 2012 was expanded from 9 holes to 27 holes. On 26 July I played the "old" 9-hole course. One has the impression this 9-hole loop was somehow placed in the landscape, just stop where there was room for it. It starts with the fact that the reductions of lanes 1 and 2 are equal to each other. So one has of hole 1 (PAR 3) back to the 2nd To get discount. On the green sheet 4/5 get a discount rail against the reductions of railway 6th 7 discount via a walkway. Lane 8 requires knowledge space as it meanders around almost 180 degrees around a forest and blind shots requires. Men's tee 9 is secured to the left about 100m from one network to the street. Mean, it's all created something extraordinary. There are to cope with some slopes and also slight differences in height. All this is not to play interesting but not always pleasant. The condition of the greens was not perfect and had many not repaired pitch marks. The green fee of 19, - € OK The staff in the pro shop and the members were very friendly and unconventional. Right on the site, a hotel and a beer garden for refreshment after the round is. I'm curious how is the 18-hole course, but the first is reserved for members.
