Characteristics
The Dortmund course was opened up in 1994 and in autumn 2001 it was taken over by the golf course operater GolfRange Germany. In Dortmund GolfRange also relies on its successful concept: close to the city, the best training possibilities, an unfailingly well cared for golf course and attractive terms. The course has an interesting short game centre, a functional administrative building with golf shop, restaurant and a range with 36 roofed and 20 lawn tees.

Close to the city for a quick short lap

Played on June 24th, 2020. The flat 9-hole golf course (PAR 32 - 5x PAR 3) is located in the eastern part of the city called Wambel in Dortmund within a horse racing track opposite the Dortmund main cemetery. The facility is quickly reached via the A1 / B1. From the parking lot you go through a pedestrian tunnel under the racecourse to get to the facility and the clubhouse. So it's best to take your golf bag with you from the parking lot. Between lanes 2 and 3 as well as 5 and 6 you go through a tunnel under the racetrack. The Golf Range concept works here. The atmosphere is relaxed, rather young. Many probably start here with golf because of the proximity to the city and the good practice opportunities. The driving range is located within the racecourse, which means that lanes 1 and 9 not only exclude the racetrack, but also the inside of the driving range. There is also a dogleg and some water hazards or trees, shrubs and high rough, which makes it difficult to play the course. The bunkers are also well placed and defend the greens. The shortest run is around 90 meters, the only PAR 5 for men is 450 meters long. It's hard to believe, but the wind can play a decisive role on the layout due to the margins that lurk everywhere. The condition of the greens was excellent, the fairways in order, even if a little dry due to the continuing heat. But what was not a good thing are some tees that are sometimes so slanted and were also tightly packed that you could not find a straight stand. The game was going on late Wednesday afternoon. One flight of four after the other, so there were also smaller waiting times here and there, because some beginners or high HC are on the way. All the members I met were friendly and the teammates I had in the flight were very nice. The relatively cheap green fee (€ 24 for 9 holes on weekdays) is paid for by the nice, friendly, young employees in the secretariat. Starting times can also be viewed and booked online as a guest by registering on the homepage. A small restaurant can be found directly on the square or from the parking lot next to the racecourse.
