Characteristics

The course is situated in the valley of the river Ems.

It is defined by numerous water hazards and a population of very old trees. One part of the holes is very narrow and rather short, the others are wide and very long. Two holes are situated directly at the bank of the Ems; the greens are only partly surrounded by bunkers and very undulating. A distinct feature of this course are the spacious waste areas. The course is embedded into a terrain of 220 acres and completely level.

Golf on the Ems

Why are there so few reviews so far? Played on 1.6.2021. The flat 18-hole course is not far from the A31 (Oberhausen-Emden) in the Emsland, south of Meppen, a little west of Lingen, in absolute tranquility and nature directly on the Ems. At the 7 and 16 you play with a view directly along the Ems. The Ems can also be seen from one or two men's tees. Otherwise, the course stretches with mostly straight lanes or light doglegs through partly open landscape and partly through forest, where you get that parkland feeling. I remember lane 3 particularly well. There are also some water hazards and sometimes large bunker landscapes to be taken out of the game. Most discounts are open, so that higher HC should be able to handle them. Whereby the tee-offs of lanes 14 to 16, especially those of the men, are a bit trickier / tighter. The condition was very good, even if some fairways had foreign growth such as thistles and daisies. The greens but top in order, fast and faithful. Greenkeeping always has priority, that is clear, but during our game the greenkeepers parked their excavator at two different PAR 3s so awkwardly in front of / on the green, in the immediate play line, that we even met him once. Only then was he driven away. The game on a sunny Tuesday morning before a women's tournament was manageable. Here too, the start time is currently in Corona times. I had requested a start time by e-mail a week in advance and got an answer immediately. However, according to the website, guests cannot play at the weekend without a member. The standard green fee of € 50 / € 60 is appropriate. However, a surcharge of € 10, which does not promote golf, is levied here for golfers without a golden hologram. The lady in the office was nice and as a guest you get a logo ball for free. There is a relatively small driving range and practice facilities. Some balls from the range like to land on the 17th tee despite the safety fence! Some members gave a friendly greeting, others, let's say, were more focused on their own game or various conversations with fellow players, unfortunately also while teeing off. Since the 9th run does not end at the clubhouse, but in the middle of the square, the way back from there to the clubhouse is a little longer. Apparently some members continue to play from the 14th. It's not so nice when you've just come off the 13th runway. Since the 16th track ends directly at the clubhouse, you can finish the round a little earlier here as well. At the end we ate a little something on the raised clubhouse terrace. The food was okay and the waitress was absolutely nice and friendly. All in all, a successful day of golf on a beautiful and varied course. A recommendation can be made.

Great Place

It is great as you are welcomed in the Secretariat. Nice, friendly and there is even a logo ball for nothing. The place is in an excellent condition. After the round man can by great clubhouse eat good and enjoy a great view. The prices are very reasonable, an all around great day at the plant.

Interesting place on the Ems

A challenging course with many challenges. The place is in a good state of maintenance for years. The club house has everything you need as a golfer. The only negative point: the parking lot is too small!
