Gleichenberg is and remains a true natural course, and it should be judged as such. However, the tee boxes should be kept in good order and mowed occasionally. The fairways should also be leveled so that the game – already significantly hampered by the continuous slopes – becomes at least somewhat predictable. The greens vary considerably, some slow, some quite fast. Some bunkers are rather neglected.
The office staff are pleasant and friendly, and the green fee is very reasonable. While the restaurant was a great highlight last year, little remains of that this year, apart from exceptionally friendly service.

We were looking for a golf course near Straden. After visiting the Klöch Golf Club, we ended up in Gleichenbach.
The course is challenging, being hilly with fairways that sometimes slope to the right and left. You have to play with the terrain. In conclusion: It was challenging but incredibly varied. It was a lot of fun. We'll be back, especially since the new management is very friendly and the new food is delicious.
Some have complained about the dry tracks. The reason: Sustainability is a top priority. No drinking water is wasted.

A year ago, we were in Gleichenberg as a small group of eight people, and we repeated the experience this year. Once you get to know the course, it becomes increasingly attractive because it certainly requires brainpower, and with a good strategy, you can certainly post a decent score. It is and remains a natural course, but one of the truly interesting ones. The 19th hole, however, takes the cake: You'll hardly find a friendlier and more cordial welcome anywhere, and the quality of what's on offer far exceeds the usual standards of golf course restaurants. Freshly picked porcini mushrooms, chickens that are sure to be cheerfully breaded, and pastries that are simply to die for. Even if you don't play golf, and despite fierce competition from various wine taverns, a trip to the golf restaurant is truly worth it, but the bill is modest...
