To me, the Swinkelsche Golf Course is the best course in the Netherlands. It is incredibly varied, with plenty of sand and a truly dune-like character that makes every hole exciting. It is a beautiful and challenging course where you can fully enjoy nature. Moreover, there is a good hotel nearby, which makes it absolutely perfect. A first-class experience — I will definitely be back.

Nice challenge with a lot of variety and large bunkers

Played on August 17th The demanding, flat 18-hole course (cart not required) with an attached 9-hole short course is located a little south-east of Eindhoven. It is approx. 50 km from the German border / Venlo and a few kilometers from the motorway in the direction of Eindoven to the clubhouse. A sat-nav cannot do any harm, as the signs are straightforward. Basically, the facility is in absolute tranquility and nature, you only hear one or the other aircraft. Behind the green of 14, a new holiday park is probably being built behind a natural dam. Most of the tracks are designed to be very open. Mostly you play a beautiful Heidecourse, although there are also a few lanes (mostly the PAR 3 holes 9,12 and 17), which are surrounded by tall trees, where you get that parkland feeling. The mixture is what makes the appeal. Sometimes there is even a links course feeling. Lanes 7 and 8 are played around a large lake and there are also a few water hazards to be removed from the game. Sometimes the rough away from the fairways is so high and dense that you don't even have to look for your ball if you warp it. Higher HC should take one of the front tees (there are 5 tees on each lane) and pack a few extra balls. A special highlight on the square are the partially gigantic bunker landscapes. Almost every bunker, and there are many of them, have extremely high bunker edges in the direction of play. At first glance, the bunker edges look unkempt, but the fringed bunkers with tall grass on the edges are intentional. There are also sometimes small or larger hills with high grass cover in the middle of the fairways where you have to play either over them or around them like on hole 11 to the right or left. On lane 11, which is actually very short as PAR 4, you cannot initially see the green from the tee because of the hill and you have to orientate yourself where to continue. Even otherwise, despite the flat course, blind strokes can occur, such as on the 16, which is an ultimate challenge from my point of view, due to the bunkers, hills and then a narrow, secluded lane into the green. As if that weren't enough, there are also a few doglegs. Finally, hole 18 (Par 5) is another nice challenge with a mixture of all the obstacles that the course has to offer and that have been listed here. One thing is for sure, it is guaranteed not to be boring! The condition was absolutely fine. The fairways were streaked with some clover here and there, but were otherwise like carpets. The greens, sometimes raised and with sloping edges, absolutely fine, undulating every now and then, possibly a little too slow for my personal taste. Unfortunately, however, a few too many pitch marks that have not been repaired here and there. The game operation on a slightly rainy Tuesday afternoon was manageable. But even without rain you can always get a free start time at least in the afternoon. Tee times can be viewed on the homepage but cannot be booked by guests without registration. I had requested a start time a few days in advance by email and very quickly received a confirmation of the time I wanted. When I got there two hours earlier, I was able to start playing right away. As a single player, I was immediately let through by a three-way flight playing in front of me. The members I met all greeted them warmly. The lady in the secretariat was also very nice and helpful. She explained everything to me in great detail and gave me a plan of the place and the handicap table. The green fee in the high season of currently € 60, both on weekdays and on weekends, is absolutely fine. If you play in a group of 6 people or more, there is even a discount. The clubhouse and restaurant is large and modern. In the basement there are changing rooms, showers and toilets, although there could be a little more toilets (1 urinal 1 toilet) at least for the gentlemen. The terrace of the restaurant is beautifully elevated in front of the 18th green. In principle, the entire path 18 can be seen from there. The driving range is also interesting. You play, unfortunately only from mats, then the balls into a large lake directly in front of the tees. Balls can be drawn from the machine for € 1. Even if it is not quite enough for 5 stars, as you can see from my description, I am enthusiastic about the variety and the challenge of the facility and can therefore absolutely recommend the visit.
