Nestled in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, Golf de Bitche offers a spectacular setting opposite the historic Citadel. Opened in 1988, this 27-hole facility is renowned for its sandy soil, ensuring excellent playability year-round. Designed by Adam and Formanger, the course winds through Grand Kindelberg’s forests, featuring long Par 4s and tactical water hazards. The clubhouse with its panoramic terrace offers the perfect spot to relax after a round in this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

In all my 10 years, I've never encountered the course in poor condition – the fairways and greens are perfectly maintained. Every season has its charm in Bitche, whether it's spring when everything is in bloom or autumn with its Indian summer feeling. A wonderful parkland course with wide landing areas and narrowing fairways towards the green – precision is required even on the tee on many holes, as you sometimes hit through long lanes with woods or a long iron (holes 8,11,13,14,15, and 17), but it's a beautiful course to play. The entire course is mostly uphill and downhill, but it's not a "mountain goat course" and is easy to play on foot. Each hole has its own characteristics and is very varied.
If you absolutely want to choose one of the holes as your signature hole, then it would be the 3rd with its tee shot high above the green or the 14th, which is located entirely in a narrow forest clearing, about 170 meters from the yellow, narrow and slightly uphill to the green, and where you can see a wonderful play of light through the trees.
The clubhouse with its restaurant is also recommended, and not just for a drink.
The overall package with an overnight stay is a perfect fit, and we always enjoy coming back to Bitche.
