Stunning place

I had play in the autumn 2016 season and all the course was in great condition. Green speed and surface was very perfect, the ball rolling very linear without deviation, even the fairways was in very good condition. The restaurant was perfect as an italian restaurant have to be.

Continuation

Hit the enter key too soon.

Great layout, sort of patchy conditions. We got an electric cart and it was very old and showed it on every bump. Cart paths are terrible, Trent Jones railroad ties that are terribly deteriorated and others are just rutted dirt tracks. Recommend more for walkers Overall and excellent layout, not good enough conditions to warrant the rating. Still recommended if you are in the area.

Very interesting

Place played on April 19th, 2023 Condition was good, work was also done on several holes.
We played yellow / red and found that the 9 holes on red were not in the same good (perfect) condition.
The layout is very interesting and varied, and we will certainly be guests here again and again.

A beautiful golf day

We played here in early September. With Italia Golf and More a daily green fee for 74 EUR. In this respect, I can only describe the price / performance ratio as top. All three courses are worth playing, all different and varied. The condition was mostly good, the yard workers were out all day to get the place in an even better condition. For me there is little to complain about.

... unfortunately, because we didn't like the maintenance!

We've probably stuck the teas in the ground over a dozen times - first in 1995 - and played on over a dozen Robert Trent Jones Sr. Courses.
Everyone in the team has some problems with his courses in terms of play, but they value his work very much, he is a master of his subject. We count him among the Big Five of course designers and have rarely achieved really good scores in the clubhouse on his courses.
Almost without exception all of his courses are difficult to play if you want par. It also corresponds to his philosophy of a difficult par and an easy bogie.
He has built more than 500 courses worldwide - in 35 counties and 45 in the United States. Almost a third of his courses can be found in top lists - madness... In 2000, the native of England is in Fort Lauderdale - Florida - 93 died year old.

This Campo is a typical representative of the designer, great placed in the slightly hilly terrain, with many very good holes. It is particularly difficult to play, target golf is a must here from the tee to the green, otherwise the player will be mercilessly punished. The very difficult greens also mean additional work, just like the nature of the ground - sometimes it is dry and hard, sometimes wet and deep.

In terms of design, this facility is definitely one of the Top 100 in continental Europe, but not in terms of maintenance and upkeep, it does not do the course justice in any way - a shame. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. course definitely deserves more attention.

We are mostly here in spring or autumn on a golf trip in Italy or France, we often used the hotel for a stopover. The game conditions that we encountered here have never completely convinced us. Maintenance was often behind schedule, as it is today. It may be that the weather conditions are partly responsible, but the work that has not been done is even more so.

The hotel with its rooms is okay - simple, no luxury but good, gastronomy good.

The place steeped in history - in terms of golf - only three golf courses existed in Italy, one does justice to this facility without a doubt.
In the century before last, golf was played here - by crowned heads - on nine holes.
The history of the club is also changeful, to this day it has been founded and abandoned several times. Baron Gaspar Voli was the first, in the 1960s the campo was closed and the club abandoned until the early 1980s.

It's a shame about the really good and great facility, it never deserves five stars in this condition. The Campo never received the maximum mark on our previous visits, it was always due to maintenance, this time too. His current position in the Top 50 Italy Courses list is not justified.

We asked ourselves several times: Are we too strict? No, if you want to be among the top 100 in continental Europe, you have to deliver more!

For once we are here in the summer, the COVID pandemic has determined the travel plans.

We can't hold back with our opinion - Bogogno is much better for us at the moment.

Yellow - blue beautiful design

Played the yellow-blue combination in mid-July. The condition was very good. The design has totally convinced us, even if the yellow 9 holes have inspired us even more. The signature hole 7 totally fascinated me, the second shot on the island green with the Monte Rosa massif in the background is one of the most beautiful. On the negative side, the bunkers don't deserve the word, because there is no sand. Furthermore, it is of course not conducive to the game that the buggies are not allowed to drive on the fairways. Is just always difficult with the distances. However, I do not want to omit that the view from the club terrace is something of the most special that I have ever seen. I sit there and have a view of 4 greens (hole 9 yellow, hole 7 yellow - island green, hole 9 red, hole 9 blue). On top of that, it should be noted that Castel Conrturbia is much more beautiful than Bogogno.

Great championship course

We played the yellow / blue combination - the championship course - at the beginning of June 2021 and were very impressed by the course design. The holes are varied. The greens are always slightly raised and well defended by bunkers. In addition, there are sometimes different levels on the green and therefore a 3-putt is a good idea if you are on the wrong level. At the end of our vacation we also played the red course, which is more of a relaxed holiday golf. The restaurant on the upper floor is very good and the staff there are very friendly. We would love to come back!

Design good, rest modest

It goes without saying that the circumstances were a bit special due to the Corona. At least we were pleased that we were able to play a very carefree round here. The reception was friendly. The pace of the game was also convincing, which was no surprise considering the few players there were in those days.

We played blue / yellow, the championship combination. In terms of design, both courses convinced me. Diverse, sometimes exciting and with one or the other challenge. The condition of the place, however, was modest. That might be due to the time of year on the one hand, but on the other hand it was also due to the sub-optimal care. The condition of the two courses in Bogogno (in the immediate vicinity) was worlds better. In addition, five of the holes smelled bad of sewer, which did not really promote the enjoyment.

Conclusion: At the moment, Castelconturbia in the Bogogno area is not our first choice.

Leaves much to be desired

We (HC 5 and 11) have played the red and yellow course once again on 31 August from the 27-hole course. The fact that there are bare spots because of the drought is clear to us, but if there is practically no lawn on the drops (red course) and only weeds (millet) is present and this is not even mown, one quickly sees that the Place is no longer maintained. Also the fairways were in a bad condition. At a par 3 (red course), the weed directly borders the green, the ball rolls over the green, it is hardly to be found. The yellow course was a little better. All in all, the place maintenance left something to be desired. This has also been confirmed, as we have seen how the Greenkeeper with the machine through the bunker is gerast without the remaining 50 cm to the bunker edge to touch. Normally, the section to the bunker edge is still made by hand. The days before we played in Bogogno. There, too, they had problems with the drought but the placekeeping, the staff and price performance ratio was right. We went the last two years three times a year to Bogogno and have never been disappointed.

Beautiful place with limitations

Beautiful golf course in the forest. Relatively flat to go smoothly. For bogey golfers easy to play. For Better probably difficult. Partly miserable "Next tee" label. Mushy when wet. Worse, solid bunker sand. Many small stones in the bunker. Clubhouse, hotel and building rubd around the square but very long in the tooth.

A great project

Golf Castelconturbia is always a must for every player. In continental Europe it remains one of the best ever fields. IN August there have been many works for improvements in the field and the condition was not the best but in any case remains a championship course.

Grandiose space and park architecture

Once a year, at least we try to be able to play this course. For us (Hdcp. 2 and 11) one of our favorite places in continental Europe, for the longer by about 1 1/4 hours drive as to Lake Garda more than worth it. Recently we played in February 2016 yellow and red. The next day we were at the Circolo Golf Bogogno and were allowed to play the course Conte. Although the latter is an outstanding course, has shown us again what we value at Castelconturbia way. Castelconturbia is wonderfully inserted in the sloping landscape. Again and again sightlines arise with wonderful views. Outstanding of view, if one turns to yellow at the 7 to the "corner" of doglegs and looks over the island green and the clubhouse of Monte Rosa. But besides that one has the impression that Trent Jones Sr. wanted to create not only golf but also park architecture. Given an exciting and very varied layout that requires strategic play, often with a classic "risk reward". Excellent greens as early as February to the time much better than in Bogogno. The criticism that the greens were not so strong undulated, I can not understand, here already modern greens were simply 30 years ago created, unlike in most German clubs. In addition, smaller and less undulating greens interspersed. The fairways were actually still carried along by the very wet spring and dry summer 2015 and will hopefully recover with onset of the growing season in the next few weeks. The whole is completed by the relaxed club atmosphere with good food in a pleasant way the slightly dusted clubhouse. Here, you feel definitely significantly more in Italy before the American-style Bogogno.

Hammerplatz

The place is beautiful and all three 9-hole loops have their charm. Yellow and blue are the more beautiful, each of which was played at the Italian Open.

End of November was the maintenance state, unfortunately, very bad. Especially the fairways of the yellow course were almost unplayable. Blue was completely aerifiziert and sanded but reasonably playable, Red could play well. Gruen's always very bad. Actually, I expect this time of year not a lot, but I was a week earlier at Le Robinie Resort where still reign perfect conditions. In future I'll prefer to go in the late autumn there again.

But in good condition would be the place of Castelconturbia wiklich very nice and it is not without reason as one of Italy's best courses. The manuscript by Robert Trent Jones is noticeable on many holes.

The range is well equipped with several chipping and pitching greens.

The hotel is actually completely okay, but had as several bugs in the room... This is really a no-go. Do not know whether it is a general Prboblem.

Yellow and red, played on 07/09/2015

Trent Jones design is actually always good, so here, too. However, he has exaggerated in my opinion, with the greens of the Red course. Wild Bird Green shapes and height differences in the greens. Whoever comes through here without 3-putts, approaches to super, can read and putt. Unfortunately, the space below the drought has suffered and the maintenance state of the fairways and greens is not good. The weather can affect anyone, but the green fee you can adjust the pitch condition, so that the price-performance ratio is right again. € 80 weekdays are currently € 20 extra.

Beautiful Golf

Played Raze All three 9s. Really nice place, Greens partly difficult to play. For more not beginners. Clubhouse & reception friendly and slightly arrogant. But we have come to play, yes. A trail less well maintained as Bogogno but still more than enough.

Fantastic Golf

This golf course is a stunner. The architect has the 3x9 holes interwoven in a complex arrangement with each other so that you have to watch very closely and not the wrong tee makes, the island green with the Monte Rosa massif in the background is a feast for the eyes.

Only negatives; on the back nine you will be slowed down by pressing into members repeatedly

Advisable

The whole plant is recommended simply. Well maintained. Wonderful clubhouse with friendly staff. Beautiful and sometimes very interesting holes with good greens. For The Weekend unfortunately a bit remote. If we are near, we are very happy to come back.

Golf & pure enjoyment

We played all three 9-hole loops in October, the best liked us on the yellow course. Each place had but certainly its appeal. It is great that not only must be gebrettert with the Driver length, often tactical game is required from the tee. Compared to Bogogno liked that the place is integrated into the landscape and was not designed by a lot of ground motion.
In autumn it is advisable to have enough balls there. As the web is missed and the ball under the trees disappear, the chances are minimal to find it at the leaves again.
Between rounds, we had extended through the daily green fees for the entire day, we enjoyed the hospitality and regional cuisine. An excellent price / performance ratio has the fun factor even further.

Very unkempt

The place could be very nice, but very taken by rain at the moment and in a very bad condition. The green fee is therefore a nerve!

Challenging

A beautiful but difficult course. Especially the Preview of the Greens is a challenge. Small and narrow greens surrounded by bunkers requires many accurate approach shots. The fairways are invested in by forest corridors, which requires straight game. We handicap. 13 + 17, the combination have played red blue.

Absolutely great

This is a totally great beautiful place. Nice play, with mean bunkers in front of the Green's, but absolutely perfect in the maintenance and quiet of the countryside. Very nice people in the shop and the Secretariat.
