Situated in the heart of the famous Margaux vineyards, Golf de Margaux offers a unique setting between prestigious wine estates and the Gironde estuary. The 18-hole course (Par 71) covers 45 hectares and is characterized by its technical layout. Bordered by elms and ash trees, the narrow fairways and numerous water hazards demand precision and strategy rather than just power. After the game, the brasserie’s panoramic terrace provides the perfect spot to relax and admire the course and the river.

This is without doubt the worst course I have played in France. It starts with the surly staff in the Pro shop who appear to doing one a favour being there. The course could make an acceptable nine hole but the designer has tried to fit eighteen holes in. I have played there twice (the second time because I could not believe how bad it was and had to prove to myself that I had not had a bad dream) and each time it has looked unloved and uncared for. Finally when we arrived in the nineteenth hole the service was poor and the bill large.

What a pity this quite well designed system. Playful space would give a few interesting holes with tactically interesting to playing tracks. Unfortunately, the place has turned into a perfect Aacker. The course is well laid out: times through a pine forest, then along the river and eventually by a beautiful park with many water hazards and beautifully landscaped. So absolutely worth playing and also quite challenging.
However, the splendor of bygone days already and it is from lack of care. The discounts are neglected, it is wrong and often in the dirt. The bunker slowly become wild.
All in all, I would still recommend the place and would like to play it again. There are 3 really challenging Par 3 holes (no fairway, only water or forest clearing), 2 beautiful over the water leading PAR 5 holes and a great terrace overlooking the two Signature Holes 9 and 18
