Designed by Eddie Hackett, Enniscrone is a traditional championship links course on the shores of Killala Bay, with inspiring views in almost every direction. It is as traditional a links course as they come, featuring tight fairways, high dunes, deep bunkers and superb greens.
As with any great links course you will need the use of all the clubs in the bag, so don't think you'll get it easy - there are no shortcuts round here. The course was founded back in 1918 and was extended to 18 holes in 1974 by Hackett. Donald Steel, however, is designing a nine-hole course which is scheduled to open fairly soon.

Played the course (Dunes) in obviously typical left-course weather (wind, now and then light rain and then again bright sunshine). Even the first hole is "blind" to play and there are more. If you do not know exactly where to play because of the partially heavily structured fairway, it can happen that you can not find your ball even with a good shot, because it disappears in the rough (that sucks!). But otherwise it's a fantastic course, with a great view of the Atlantic. That alone pays off. The greens are excellently maintained and hardly Pitschmarken to see (surface despite rain the evening before very hard). If you are not traveling with a cart, you should afford an e-trolley, because the connecting paths to the teas are often a few meters. As a nice idea I have also found the small boards with the different sayings on the benches. Course recommended.

I've done well, but sometimes it's really lottery.
