Founded in 1891, the City of Newcastle Golf Club offers a rich history just outside Gosforth. The current course, established in 1907, boasts an impressive design pedigree: originally laid out by Harry Vardon, it was significantly enhanced by Alister MacKenzie in 1913. MacKenzie’s strategic influence is palpable, particularly on the 14th hole, which features in his seminal book *Golf Architecture*. The layout demands strategy over power. After the round, the clubhouse offers panoramic views of the 1st and 18th holes, providing a perfect setting to relax.
