Driving Range

Judging by the incompetence of the staff to look after the very basic driving range, I won't be holding out much hope for the course in general. The range is supposed to open at 10am but more often than not there are no balls in the machine and it has a "closed" sign stuck over the money slot. The range itself is poorly equipped with worn out mats, no plastic tees, rubbish all over the place. If there was an alternative I would go elsewhere. Poor.

Varied place away from the tourist-streams

We played the course on the way from Dublin to the West - it is just off the N4.
We were pleasantly surprised by the good care of the state space. The layout of the old tracks (1-5 and 15-18) is a classic parkland course with fairly wide fairways. The new tracks (6-14) are in the open terrain and offer some scenic highlights directly on the banks of the River Boyle - house boats leave directly behind greens 7 and 8, these paths are kept quite fair, the varied par-3 holes 8,10 and 13 but make the bogey golfer well as challenges.
The clubhouse is quite simple. Overall, the place offers excellent value for money (we have on a Monday for € 25 played) away from the tourist flows.
