A golf course with two faces! You play the first 9 holes together with the stream that runs through it. The second 9 is played from high to low. That's the challenge. The golf course is well maintained and the greens are a bit rough but playable. Friendly people who are very helpful. At the castle at Smith's Brasserie you can eat well with a very extensive menu. Also very friendly staff there. In short, if you are in the area, go play golf there. Worthy of 5 stars.

I'm a big fan of the south of England and often come to Dartmoor or Devon.
Bovey Castle is a great place to play for everyone with £ 59.
The first 9 holes are class (parkland), the second 9 holes not so spectacular but still topp.
Staff friendly and always helpful.

The Font Nine are flat with a lot of "water" (all rivers flow), the back-Nine are rather hilly. The greens were great, the fairways just OK, maintained the haircuts and the semi-rough insufficiently. To play this course is not a "must".
Too bad, because the place with the castle and the location and layout of the place would actually deserve 5 stars.
