Almeria is the driest region in Spain, the easternmost of the Andalusian provinces. There is rarely any rainfall - barely more than 20 days a year - in contrast to more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. It is not only the tourism industry that benefits from this sunny climate. The cultivation of fruit, vegetables and flowers also contributes significantly to the economic strength of this region.
